thanks for this information - that is terrible about the boxes of 10. you know, i had a dream about this whole fusion key thing...really bizarre!

i'd like to just to trial and error but we'll see what happens.

thanks,
kris
call me a dodo bird, but i have a feeling once all TMS '05, owners get wind of this, assuming the fusion key works of course, the problem may be getting enough boxes of 10 for all of us. (humor)

How would we go about programming them and having them cut?

Any lock shop can cut the key to your original or using your key tag number.

As far as programming the key portion assuming you hanve two original keys it is simple-take your first original key and turn it to the run position-do NOT start engine. leave it on until the theft lamp goes out, do the same with the second original key and then take the unprogrammed key and do the same with it.

The remote portion is even simpler-make sure you have all your remotes/keys. Cycle the ignition from off to run- again, do NOT start the engine- seven times within 10 seconds ending up in run. The door locks will cycle to lock then unlock-this indicates the keyless entry is ready to accept remotes for programming, push ONE button on each remote to be programmed-the locks will cycle to indicate they have been successfully programmed. Then turn off the ignition key, the locks will cycle to indicate programming has ended.

This is assuming they are compatible.

I've got a key on order here at my local dealership. I get wholesaler pricing out here, which is very close to the pricing that TMS members get through Kevin. I should have it within a few weeks. I'll post the results.

Keys will Be available the end of the Month. Ford still does not know if there is an alternate Key. So I can Not Cross reference to See if the Mustang is Going to accept the Key. I have them on order. It may be Trial and error. They will Sell for approx. $90.00 to tms Members. These Keys come in a box of Ten for FORD, LINCOLN and Mercury Apps. So do not be surprized if your local Dealer does not want to Jump on Stocking these. STAY TUNED!

Count me in for two, too. I could use the reduced weight on my keychain.

I just saw this in the fusion brochure this weekend and I thought it would be awesome if the Mustang had a key like this. Guess you guys beat me to it. I sure hope it works.

what about anti-theft technology... isn't there a microchip in the key that must be programmed to allow the engine to start? I don't think this is the same encoding as the remote transmitter, and the key shop can't do it I dont think....

That's what he meant by this:

"As far as programming the key portion assuming you hanve two original keys it is simple-take your first original key and turn it to the run position-do NOT start engine. leave it on until the theft lamp goes out, do the same with the second original key and then take the unprogrammed key and do the same with it"

The Fusion will have this technology just the same as the Mustang does, so presumably this part shouldn't be a problem.
