Yes. Car has a book value of about $5k or so on trade in. Boss wanted to give her $5k for the car, raise the price of the Jeep I was selling by $4k so that he could make a bunch of profit on it. Then send the mustang off to auction and get $5k for it to break even. I talked him into keeping the sale price of the Jeep low, and giving her next to nothing for the mustang. A car's value is only as much as somebody is willing to take for it or pay for it. It was pretty evident this car had no value to this girl.

FYI.. that rear seat pops out really easy. pop it out and power wash it.
I'm actually going to pop it out Sunday, and I'll decide then if I want to keep the seats or take Rather B.Blown's advice and burn them with fire then put a rear seat delete in.

You would be astounded to know that this thing drives like a dream.

The engine bay is covered in dirt, but I'll get to that next week.

Does anybody have any suggestions about what to use get the fuzzy stuff off those panels? I'm going to order some of these Red Door Insert Covers but before I can install them I need to get that part cleaned off.

Regarding the fuzzy stuff: Scotch Brite pads

7446 for starters. This is the Gray stuff. That'll get the most off.

Then get some 7447 (Maroon/red) for the smoothing out, and then if needed the 7448 (Light Gray) for the finish.

Be what I'd do, anyway. Good luck!

Especially since this car would NOT get $5000 at an auction (or anywhere for that matter). I think $1000 is too much for the condition...

Thanks a bunch! Very helpful. Probably going to work on that a bit tomorrow.

So to use rough numbers, this girl wanted to be at $350 a month. I sold her this jeep for $14,000 which had her at about $320 a month. If my boss gave her what her car was worth, $5k instead of $1,000 he could then sell her the Jeep for $18,000 and make a profit on it. Because at that point you've got $18,000 - $5,000 trade in = $13,000 finance. Payment stays the same, but based on the price he sold the Jeep for he makes a profit. He just did it for me so that I could buy the mustang cheap.

Not true. When I'm done with it, it will easily go for $5k-$6k. As a matter of fact while I was working on it I already had a customer come in and offer us $5k cash for it as is. And all I had done was clean the trash out, hadn't started cleaning or fixing anything. Then you take into account that we have a team of detailers that get paid by the hour, so boss man has them clean the car out. We pay one of our guys $50 to buff the car, wash it, and wax it, then send it to auction. It may be hard to believe because it's hard to see through how nasty the car is, but it would fetch a pretty penny afterwards.

Also, I seriously LOVE your avatar!

Also, does anyone know if it's possible to find that cover that prevents junk from getting into the shifter? You can see in the earlier pics I posted there were ketchup packets in the shifter and such.

That's the whole plate, they don't sell just the little slidy bit.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-5R55S-AUTOMATIC-TRANSMISSION-GEAR-SHIFT-LEVER-2007-2009-FORD-MUSTANG/231229702836?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D27538%26meid%3D33a707872d0b449e8ef0dc654ad7865a%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D11353%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D321565494654&rt=nc
Or similar.

The other is to take it apart, find the slidy bit, and put it back together, somehow secureing it all back in place... the slide is just a very bad piece of engineering, really.

I agree with the original poster. Once cleaned up, it should net around 4-5k

This a good flip.

Oh wow, that sucks. Thanks for that. If I were to replace that I'd just put one like this in:
http://www.americanmuscle.com/tci-ra...er-0509gt.html

I haven't come across the piece anywhere in the car, unless somehow it slid up in there. I'll have to check for that. I suppose the other option is if I can find one in the junkyard, but these cars seem a little too new to often find them in a junk yard.

Thanks, yea I'm actually not allowed to flip it while I work at this job. Buying a car at employee cost and flipping for a profit = instant termination. But then again, I don't intend to work here that much longer.

I would have sold the car after work gave the boss a few bucks and called it a day.

Or get a pressure washer and clean the car inside and out. replace the door panels carpet and interior. LOL

Last option is strip the car and make it a race car.

IF and I mean IF you are going to turn a $3,000 profit then the labor put into it so far by the OP is well worth it IMHO? :-)
