Thumbs down

While signing up for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix show on 16 and 17 July, I came across this note:

Friday, July 15 Mustang Stampede - 100 Special Edition "Torch Red" Mustangs will be escorted down Route 79 South, thru Pittsburgh to rest in their corral at Schenley Park.

Thought some of you looking for a car might be interested. This information comes from Patrick Wolf of Sturman and Larkin Ford in Pittsburgh. Patrick's number is 412-653-5800. Here is the scoop:

On 15 July, Ford will gather 100 new Torch Red 05 Mustangs at the Butler Fair Grounds. All 100 will convoy to the show sight in Shenley Park in downtown Pittsburgh. That would be a sight to see!

All 100 cars will be Torch Red and all will have a "Special Edition" badge of some sort, not known what it will look like. From that starting point, anything is possible. There will be coupes, verts, GTs, V6s with any variety of interior options you could imagine. Only the color and badge will be standard.

The idea is that every dealer in the Pittsburgh region gets one car. Most dealers don't seem to even know about this yet and they may not know what they are getting. Once the cars show up at the park, the dealers will pick up their car and do what they want with it - sell on the spot maybe, use to fill an order, take back to the lot, their call. At least 15 cars will remain on site through the weekend to be viewed.

The point is, if you are in that area and want a Torch Red, start calling dealers! Remember, they will do what they want so anything could happen with these cars. Also, most may not yet be aware of this promotion.

Patrick says that the car they are getting is a TR GT vert. He is not sure of the other details. This car is not spoken for yet. They will likely have a dealer markup so you are on your own making a deal if interested.

Here is the site for the show and the page that mentions the cars:

No, I don't work for a dealer. I will be at the show with my TR GT (along with 100 cousins ) and just thought this might help someone. Should be quite a sight!

Hey, be sure to grab some pic's for the rest of us in the Torch Red Club. That's cool! If you can get a close up of the badge, and how to get one, that might be cool too.

Not even that, probably just a sticker. The point is it means there will be some cars available that someone might be interested in checking out. Plus, that's a lot of red!

A TR package I had that in my signature about a month or so ago and was calling it a Thunder Road package ....basicly stripes and spinners but just calling it 300 TR in the side stripe instead of repeating the 300 "GT" in the lower rocker stripe area .Thought it would be a little different ...looks like someone got the same idea ...maybe
