Why is it that some Sonic blue owners feel compelled to say their color is better; and they don't like Vista Blue?

You don't see Satin Silver or Mineral Grey owners putting down Tungsten.

It's as if they feel threatened by Vista Blue. The colors are pretty similiar (closer than any other two S197 colors so far).
Thanks for the pictures Amy. Glad to finally see Vista blue on a stang.
Um, I think it is called colour perference. My 97 GT was Atlantic blue and I could not stand the Bright Atlantic Blue. So I am not threatened by the Vista blue in any way. I personally do not "prefer" that colour, well at least for the entire colour of the car. I am entertaining the idea of changing my stripes to a variation of the vista blue colour.

Yeah...I ordered the Tungsten too and I'm hoping that it looks more like pics taken at the car show. But then again...both tungsten stangs (the one in this thread and the one in the cae show) were taken in two totally different light settings. I'll just have to wait and see it with my own eyes.

Amy, I read your comments a few pages back. Here is my new question to you. Do you really think its the SAME color as the Show car?
I have a feeling its very similar, but not 100% the same.

If they were the same it wouldn't make sense to give them different code numbers.

Thanks for the pic's Amy ,I can see that they are using semi sticky weights insead of the hammer on weights ...about time And I belive you are right Amy there was a test mule with a set of high polished rims but if i recall they said that there was alot of blems/discoloration in the casting so there would be a lot of scrap and I would guess that this would be passed on ,with painted inserts less scrap but I was hopeing that it would be in dark charcoal metallic like this test rim here.
FYI, I was the one that originally posted those rims. They really were not "test" rims. The company was having a hard time polishing the centers so they painted them instead to see what they would look like.

Well, it was reported on this site, that Tungsten and Titanium Silver are the same color. I want the facts.
Many people like the Titanium Silver Show car. I being one of them! If I order a Tungsten Gray Mustang GT, and it looks dull or darker then the Show car, I am going to be very mad!

Different color codes? Care to clarify the source of that. Now I am becoming concerned about my color choice. I have been comparing the show pics with the pics on this thread and they do look different. I'm optimistic and hoping it was camera angles, the sun, etc.

More info please.

Sure. Here ya go. Different colour codes for ya. Vista Blue = G9, Sonic blue = S1. If they were truly the same you would not have a different code for each colour.

I honestly cannot tell the difference between the sonic and the vista. I dont' understand how the Vista can have more metallic flake in it but look flatter than the Sonic.
Yeah, they're both really close. I think Vista is less intense (less saturation) than Sonic, which is why it looks flatter. It tends toward gray just a little bit, while Sonic is full-on blue.

The color balance seems to be nearly identical. Some people think Sonic looks purple, but they're probably not used to seeing pure blue. Most of what we call blue -- the sky, the ocean, etc. -- has a bit of green in it. In fact, the blue headers on this page have some green in them -- I'm getting #5176b5 from the line of pixels just under the highlight.

OK...I understand what your saying. I was concerned about Titanium being the same or possibly different than Tungsten. I though your color code comment was tied to that. I am really waivering right now between the Tungsten and Vista Blue.
The hardest part about buying this car is the decisions ahead of time.

You think that is hard, wait until you get one. Ordering was the easy part for me. Deciding on what I want it to look like once I am done is the hard part.

Well on the cover of a magazine I just got, they are comparing the 05 Mustang , 05 RX-8, and the Audi something. The RX-8 was said to be painted Tungsten Gray. That color looked much darker than Mustang show car in the mag (which looked great!). and these pics look to be much light than the show car. I hope sure hope Tungsten is the same as Titanium, cause I have one on order and if it looks different, I will sure be hart broken. That is the whole reason I waited. I almost got Sonic until I heard on here that The show car color was going to be offered. and now I can not get it. so... if anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated!

I have a feeling its very similar, but not 100% the same.
My honest opinion...

I think they are slightly different in color.

BUT.. to me.. at the NAIAS... when they had the same colored Mustang, Cobra Concept and GT (40).. they were suppose to all be the same grey/silver color... but in my eyes.. the Cobra and the GT looked slightly darker than the Mustang. It could've been the lighting too. The lights gave everything a slight blue tint.

What also could be playing a trick with your eyes are the satin silver stripes. They can make a car look a certain way.. just slightly.

And then there's the different lighting situation that's been mentioned throughout the post.

And there's the computer screen thing.. my camera white light thing.. all that.

There's also slight difference in color whenever a new batch of paint is mixed. Sometimes the formula is a lil off. This is why Mineral Grey sometimes looks like dish water and sometimes looks stunning.

Now.. I'm just speaking from a graphic design, art background.. I've studied this sort of stuff and I'm excellent with colors and color theory. So.. I do see things a lil bit differently than someone else might.

Someone could look at something and say... that's red. I look at it and see an orange tint to it.. which would make it a more corral color... see what I'm saying So, don't base your thought on the color based on my opinon. I don't want ya to get mad at me if you hate it haha but feel free to send me gifts if you like it

I like the new grey.. I think it'll still be a big hit. Put the silver stripes on it and you're golden.

I'm not a fan of Vista though.. but I also don't care much for Sonic either. Wish they would bring back True Blue and Moonlight Blue.

tom_vilsack -- the beaver costume has been retired. I'll have my dog take the pics instead

editors note -- I don't have a dog but I'll send my cat to do it.

The smaller fogs on the Pony Package are pretty cool........But I'm not that crazy about the corral and bar that connects it to the fogs. I bet that Vista will be a real popular color.
Not only that, but the smaller fogs are so recessed that it's hard to believe they'll have the proper dispersion pattern for fog lights at all. They'd be better suited as driving lights.
