I was told that it would be late October before an ordered 06 Mustang would be delivered.

Is this what others have been told?

Does anyone know when they start production on the 06?

I think I read that it wasn't until August... but since so many here know about actual availability and the truth about when the car will most likely arrive I figured I'd ask here just to make sure.

Thanks for any help guys

According to Blue Oval News, job 1 date for the 06 Mustangs is Aug 8th. I was told by my dealer not to expect my car in until late September or October.

August 8 production starts...your wait may depend on bumped 05 orders at your dealer. 06's should be on the lots and streets in September.

I was told late October so I guess that's about right.

Kevin you actually got a firm date on your order? How did you get that?

Ford has not pulled any '06 orders yet. They are still building '05's until the end of July. Job 1 for the '06's is the 1st week of August and NO allocation has been given to dealers as of yet. Dealers can order all the '06's they want but NONE will get pulled until the 1st allocation week which I am guessing is 3-4 weeks away.

So Ed does this mean that everyone who has been given a firm date was basically lied to?

I'm just wondering how some people have been given a firm date if Ford isn't giving allocations etc

The order I placed happens to be the first '06 order for this dealer. I was told mid to late September. I would not doubt that a most likely delivery would be late October to mid November.

Ed - does pulled = serialized or are they two separate things? I guess what I'm really asking is will some of us who ordered this month start knowing our VIN's and production dates as early as July? Hypothetically of course...most of us have have learned from '05 and are not expecting miracles.

The way these things are selling, October 06 might be a firm date.

Military sales always gives you a date. How they come up with it I do not know, but everybody who ordered an '05 GT I talked to; all but 1 got his on time. the guy who was late got a discount for every week it was late. it was only 3 weeks late. Good enough for me. as long as it is before the end of the year.

When an order is "pulled" it is serialized; normally on a Thursday evening. That is when Ford pulls orders for scheduling. Once it is pulled, we usually have a schedule week by the following Monday. We just got our '06 allocation and orders will begin being pulled in a couple weeks for production starting the week of August 8th. So unless there are some delays, some customers should start seeing cars by the end of Aug just in time for the Labor Day Weekend.

What kind of priority numbers are you guys getting at your dealerships. My VOC says 99 does this change when production starts or do I need to have a talk with my dealer.

A "99" priority code means the car will stay in an unscheduled status until H**L freezes over. It a code the dealer uses so an order will NOT pull for scheduling. So if you want your car sometime before the end of mankind as we know it, you better have him change it to anything; the lower the better depending on how many other Mustang orders he has.

Ed - I've seen a few forum posters here received priority code 45 for their x-plan orders. Do you know of any significance to that number or is it just coincidence?
