06 Mustang GT popping sound HELP!!

I have a 06 mustang gt with 89,000 miles and when I driving slow and usually turning I can hear a fairly loud popping sound. It sounds like it's coming from underneath the car somewhere. But when I crawled under the car to look I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. I was thinking maybe bushings?? I just replaced the shocks and struts and all the lug nuts are tight. Thanks for the help.

Any suspension mods? My first guess will be the camber plates! My car is doing the exact same thing as this BUT it's because I have wicked stiff suspension that's need lowered WITHOUT struts and shocks. If it isn't your camber plates then I'm going to say it is probably your struts. The suspension on these S197's will only hold up to so much abuse before beginning to go out.

If it's coming from the front end it could be the upper strut mounts. A lot of us have had it happen early on and I replaced mine with the Steeda heavy duty ones and I've had no problems since ...

I'm all stock suspension, I just changed the struts and shocks to Koni yellow, about 2 months ago.

Sounds like the strut popping TSB from back in the day...Could be the same problem. I'd double check the struts.

just a SWAG with so little information to go on, but I'm guessing upper strut mounts also

the Koni's have more damping than the original struts and maybe that was enough to cause the failure in the mounts, since they are prone to that anyway

Did you reuse the stock strut mounts? From what I've gathered that's not a good idea and people often minimally upgrade to GT500 strut mounts to resolve that issue.

I assume so, I took it to my local trustee mechanic to change the struts.

The GT500 mounts are about $100, I doubt he gave them to you free and you'd probably notice that in the bill . . . sounds like there is a good chance that might be it ; then again beware of internet mechanics and doctors!

also check how your springs are seated. If they are not seated they could cause this.

Sway bar endlinks are also a common culprit, hard to get them tight with some of the designs

+1 That's what I'd suggest checking too. My strut mounts popped when I hit any bump, not just turning. My swaybar end links would make a loud noise somewhere between a 'pop' and a 'thunk' when I was in a low speed turn (or sometimes turning the wheel as I was parking), usually as I was changing direction. Sometimes I'd feel it through the footwell.

The nuts that hold the links to swaybar and the struts had basically become loose. I torqed them down to spec.
