Has anyone ever made their side scoops functional?

I just hate the riceness of fake scoops, thats all. And since they're there, I thought I might make them functional. It wouldn't hurt anything anyways, and at least you could tell people they're functional.

I wouldn't say they were Ricey. They are design cues that throwback to the 60's models, like the three bar rear lights.
You only need them opening up if you are going racing, even then, the heat generated by the front brakes is more of a worry.

Why not just get rid of the scoop, weld them up like the bullitt concept or replace the side scoops with Bullitt panels. I may be a bit bias, but I love the clean look. I've also seen some people try to make the hood functional but some have been ripped right off the hood. If you try to do this mod I would suggest a couple braces in the font of this scoop to hold it down.

No need to brace the scoop - it's held on by a number of studs that bolt on through the hood. Some of the earlier ones were held on by double sided adhesive but the later scoops should be just fine.

That's cool Aaron. Can anyone else with an 94-95 gt see if theirs are functional. I just think it would be a cool mod because too many people complain about all the fake scoops on the 94-04's. It couldn't be that expensive either.
Mine are functional. I have absolutely no clue why 96+ arent. They made a LOT of changes in 96. Different tailights, different hood latch, a factory grill, no red interior choice, etc. I thought it would cost them more to make such changes. To be honest, only recently have I learned that the 96-98s werent functional. I remember when the 99s first started coming out. I thought they were so lame. That honeycomb crap. The hood scoop, and super huge sidescoops were obvious fakes

He he... ...my 145hp mustang has functional side scoops and yours doesnt! =)
