I was just wondering if anyone knows if any company makes anything like this or if anyone has done it themselves. I'm talking about running a rear brake cooling line, or something of the sort.

what year is your car? I have a 95 and mine are functional...i know they plugged them up sometime after that but maybe you can use parts off an older car.

if you take the side scoop off, and actually look what is behind there, it doesn't look too hard to make it functional.

but if you did make it functional I would find a better way to secure the scoop than the clips it currently uses.

yes they are functional and no I did not do it. there is a vent hole running into the rear wheel well from the side vent. I was under the impression this was a factory thing on early sn95 cars, eliminated as a cost saving measure like the strut tower brace that was discontinued on later models. i would post a pic, but my digital camara did not make it back from my recent trip to mexico...

That's cool Aaron. Can anyone else with an 94-95 gt see if theirs are functional. I just think it would be a cool mod because too many people complain about all the fake scoops on the 94-04's. It couldn't be that expensive either.

94-95 cars have "functional" vents. In 96 the vents were closed off. It shouldn't be that hard to make them even more "functional". I am working on removing the factory vent (both side and inside the rear qtr. panel) and installing side scoops on my cobra. With the side vent removed it should give a bigger area for air to flow thru the side, back to the rear wheels. The side scope will not only cover the removed vent but it also act as a collector for air. Not sure what it would take to make an 04 model funtional. I'm pretty sure it would not be that hard. Remember, where there is a will there is a way. Good Luck.

The Drag Racers nrmally have functional siode scoops. Go to a FFW event and check out their cars and ask how they did it. Because their cars hit some insane speeds normally. (8 and 9 second cars)

Not hard to do but there is some cutting involved. I did it for my friends car and was going to do it to mine but i got lazy. All you have to do is yank off the scoop. Then cut a larger hole into the body where the scoop attaches. As a side not there are ways to cut it so that you can still use the standard mounting procedure when your done, also if you feel the ole si big enough don't even cut. The cut the hole in the rear fenderwell. Pull the old scoop covers off, (the little black piece) and reatach. I suggest using some type of mesh or honeycome to finish off the scoop because with the black piece off it doesn't look very clean.

You could make the scoops functional, but I doubt they could be usefull.
I mean what is the point of this? are your rear brakes overheating ?
if so replace them with better ones...
