hey i have a 99 gt , and my brakes have pretty much had it. I was thinking about just replacing all of them with all new rotors and calipers. So i was wondering if anyone knew of some good kits that arent too expensive. Its my daily driver so im not looking for some 3000 dollar brembo setup.....more like a step up from the factory. Thanks for any help.
What about a FRPP Cobra/Mach/Bullitt upgrade in the front with some SS brake lines?

well i was thinking about that.....but i was planning on doing the rear ones as well and money is a big deal right now. So what i was thinking of doing was just getting new rotors and pads. Which brings me to my next question, if I got the cobra rotors, all 4 would the fit the stock GT's calipers or would I need to swap those out as well? Also what kind of break pads would you guys recomend. Again thanks a lot
Ford racing sells a set of cross-drilled/slotted rotors. I put those on the front of my 2000, along with some good ceramic pads, and I think it made a nice difference. Plus, it was quite affordable. The rotor set is $150 and the ceramics were maybe like $50-60 (I don't quite remember what the cost of the pads were). I believe that the rear rotors are priced similarly, or slightly less.
To answer your other question: the front cobra rotors are 13", so I'm almost positive that you would need the new calipers to accommodate for the bigger rotor.

First, there's no point in replacing your rear brakes. Your front brakes do about 80% of your stopping anyway, so replacing your rears is just a waste of money. As long as it still has working pads, leave them be.
Second, a few sites have direct upgrade kits to fully upgrade your front brakes to the cobra kit. Costs $575 from Steeda. FRPP should be close to the same.
Also, if you don't enjoy replace rotors very often, don't get ceramic. I had them on my 2004 F-150 and in one years time I had to replace the rotors. They tear up a rotor like no one's business. They may stop faster and (as advertised) not produce any brake dust, but it's not worth the cost IMO.

yeah, for the front ones you will need to replace the rotors, calipers, and brake lines if you want to go with either a mach1, bullitt, or cobra set up. honestly though, if it is a daily driver, you dont need to spend all that money on a cobra kit, you could just go with slotted rotors and hawk pads. when i still had the stock setup on my car, i went from the stock rotors/pads to powerslot slotted rotors and hawk pads and it really made a difference.

Try MPS auto salvage in Atlanta you can get the whole ste from them off a wrecked cobra for pretty cheap

I have another Brake Kit Question, I've been looking at Rotors and Pads but all of the slotted/cross drilled rotors say "Not For Track Use", so what do you buy if you want to take it to the track? Since I already have the Bullitt/Cobra brakes, dont respond with "buy the Cobra R brakes" beacuse I know that would be the best idea for the track!

I would assume they are just trying to avoid "I hit the safety wall because of your brakes", and that is probably why they have that "warning". I wish you luck.

The Cobra R's are even larger rotors and new Brembo Calipers. They also require 18" wheels. So they are great brakes, but I think the cobra brakes on the Bullitt are big enough.

if you are looking for stock replacement parts, check out stillen.
the brembo Cobra R kit doenst require you to use 18" wheels, you can use 17" wheels but you need to make sure you have enough backspacing or else the caliper will be hitting the spokes.
all 13" big brake kits require at least 17" wheels with proper backspace clearance, and 14" big brake kits require 18" wheels with proper clearance.
to cheech6g, i would suggest you just upgrade the pads and rotors with good quality pads, slotted rotors, and stainless steel braided brake lines. as mentioned before, i recomend Hawk pads because those are the ones ive used in the past and they improve stopping distances, arent harsh on the rotors, and create minimum dust (altho it does create a brown color dust instead of a black dust), also keep in mind that tires play a major role in stopping distances, almost as important as the brakes themselves. upgrade pads/rotors/brake lines first, and if that still doesnt work good enough for you, then start shopping around for a fixed caliper brake kit (brembo, wilwood, stoptech, sbcc, etc)

This is clearly an old thread that was brought back from the dead. I waffled about posting on it but figured since it was one page 1, I would.
These brake kits that are for sale are nice. I replaced my stock brakes with Cobra calipers from an 01 Cobra. They have the raised "Cobra" on them.
With calipers (brackets included), new rotors, Hawk HPS pads, brake lines, rebuild kit and fluid I think I shelled out approx $550.00.
I did the swap with my cousins help in his home garage in about 3 hours. I'm very happy with the upgrade and saved quite a bit of cash compared to buying a new kit. It may not be apples to apple, but the car stops on a dime and gives me 8 cents back.
