Battery keeps dying

So my battery is getting drained somehow, I have a 10" JL Audio PowerWedge subwoofer that's powered by a 250 watt amp. Would that draw enough power to drain my battery? I've run it for about half a year now with no problem. Any advice would be awesome.

Are you running it with the car off? Cause I have an alpine 500 amp with a type r 12" and it's fine

Nope, maybe once every couple months, otherwise the car is on all the time. I installed a power switch on the turn on lead and that's done nothing. I'm thinking either buy a capacitor or buy a switch for the actual power

Hmm... That's odd. Maybe an alternator or your batteries bad...?

I'm guessing the alternator doesn't supply enough amperage. My battery is maybe 9 months old

Hmm, that's weird. Yeah, it probably is your alternator. You might be able to get a shop to test it for you...

Confused here. Dying while running. Or dying while sitting?

Dying after sitting for a couple hours. Like while I'm working and then leave for lunch only to find out my battery has absolutely no juice at all. It'll work fine after a jump.

Parasitic draw. Disconnect the amp. If it dies still then its not that. If you really want to find it you will need a multimeter. Then I can tell you has to find your problem.

That's what I've been doing. I pulled the main fuse for my amp last Wednesday and have been drivin around just fine so that's the likely problem.

I had a 5.0 that was charging great and it still turned out to be a bad alternator. After completing a parasitic draw test we determined the alternator was causing the short. If we let the car sit more than about 12 hours the battery would be dead.

Just a thought
