2003 Cobra won't start

I am having the most bizarre issue with my car. I came home from work on my lunch break and when I was ready to head back to work my car wouldn't read my key. I tried using my second set of keys with the same result. These are the original keys that came with the car. How does an 8 year old car suddenly reject the factory keys to the car. Every time I try to start the car the theft light blinks on the dash.... do I need to take the car to a dealer to get this fixed? Has anyone ever have something like this happen?

To make matter worse when I had a couple friends help me push the car into the driveway they pushed too hard on the trunk lid and broke the 3rd brake light

Sounds like its totaled. I'll give you scrap price and come pick it up. You're welcome.

Dead battery maybe? Or loose ground and it lost memory?

I checked the battery, unhooked and hooked it back up. Couldn't find a loose ground... the weird thing is before it did this I had just driven the car 30min earlier. Anyways I had to have it towed to a dealership to have them figure it out.

What do you figure the scrap value is worth, i'm looking for a reason to upgrade to a GT500!

I'll give you $500... maybe the part of the switch that reads the key went bad???

Wow $500 now I can buy a hood for the GT500 all I need is another $40,000 or so lol. It's weird because both sets of keys stopped working. I wonder what the dealership is going to tell me I dropped it off this afternoon and they said they will look at it in the morning.

Its the transducer ring behind the key slot in the steeting column. It wont sense the keys anymore. Two things you could have done.... Repair shop to replace transducer or performance/tuning shop to put a tune on car and turn off the PATs system

Speaking of the pats system, I'm throwing a code from mine. It's 9682. Transceiver signal not received . You know any thing about that by chance?

Sorry didn't mean to jack your thread ha ha

Thanks

Just an update for anyone who cares... The battery was messing up the PATS system and needed to be replaced along with the terminals but the worst part was that my cooling fan that I suspected to acting up pretty much died...so my total bill for all this crap was $1100. I guess my mod money is burned up for the foreseeable future, just glad I have the car back...

Glad it's back but that's a hell of a bill.
