I was wondering if my 04 V6 mustang has a computer transmission? I believe the 05 does. I also wanted to know if i should get a tuner or a shift kit? Could I use both?

 

Yes, different attributes about the transmission can be changed in the PCM. You do not have a "separate" computer just for the transmission. Well, not in the since you think of it.

Avoid shift kits unless your C4 or C6.

Yes you do and it also has it's own separate wiring harness which is a good thing to think about if you were to swap to a higher power rated trans. Ran into wiring trouble when I switch from a t5 tremec to a pmphd 3650.
