trouble with hatch

well ive got a 91 hatchback and the hatch is hard to shut and sometimes hitting bumps will cause the hatch to pop open.

anyone had this issue that could help me out on what could cause it?

like I posted in your intro post you have to check the adjustment and you can also spray the lock mech with lube to see if it just sticking also. if you have to slam it hard to get it to hold then probally an adjustemnt will fix it. when I first got my current fox I had this problem ( most of the time when I would close it with the windows up, you push air into the car when closing the hatch ) once it was adjusted it was better. try this 1st, then you can move on.

Well i put some lub on latch it didnt solve the issue but im sure it helped with somethong tho, then i loosened my striker and mover it about an 1/8" to the passangerside and problem solved! I can shut the hatch so easily now its way easier like no effort needed!!
