i just havent had this problem with my rockers yet. i had them running great then had a head gasket issue. then reset them and didnt have any issues. so i reset them again because they were all loose. and now i cant get them tight. so i tried skunks procedure since he really knows his ish and the procedure was very thorough. and still no luck.

im wondering if the water that got into my oil before messed them up. or the recent abuse they have encountered. or just old. idk but i think they are toast.

i really appreciate the input guys.

Water in the oil can mess them up. And it's really hard for them to recover from it. I would just replace them and go from there.

The b is a mild cam, the stage 1 is a step up or even the stage 2 would be a good step. I like a custom grind but I still believe for a mild motor you can find a really good off the shelf cam. you are letting the lifters sit to long like stated but if you have any doubt about them change them out.

Will do. I'm just gonna change them. I'm not gonna go to the track often, so I don't want my performance to suffer when I can finalltly get there. They are pretty easy to change especially since I am carbed.

If I can't pull the $ for a custom grind trickflow will be on top of my list. I already have the heads so I'm sure it would work tread for my setup.

Thanx again.

yeah like Al stated the trick flow is a great cam, if you are dead set on the custom then your head specs, gears, etc could come into play to get the most out of the combo. if you aren't going to track it often and want a really nice street motor that will run down the track imo off the shelf is plenty fine.

I am building it as if it were a drag car. I dont mind one bit loosing streetability. That's because its not a dd. It's just my toy.

I need to look up specs and talk to a cam specialist before I make any decisions. Because I want to make sure I can still use my 1.72 roller rockers. These are Awsome rr's. They are rated to 900 lbs of spring pressure and weren't cheap. So I don't wanna push ptv clearance. But with that said I am sure I have plenty of room for most cams.

I have about .516 lift with my cam and rr. I used between 1/8-3/16 of clay and never touched it when I checked clearances. So just something I am gonna have to study up on and talk to specialist.

There is just something about a custom grind that gets my juices flowing. Bit the finances will most likely help make my cam choices.

Thanx again guys for the help. I have been looking and I think I am gonna go with trickflow lifters. They are only about 116$ for a whole set.

I have had good luck using summit brand equiptment. Has anyone used a set of there lifters? They are even cheaper. But I don't want to get them if they are carp.
