Updates...

The vert has become my daily driver as I recently sold my F150 truck.

The car still runs great even though I have no OD gear. Everything else is fine. Only mod I've done so far is the BBK fender CAI. I've got an *** load of parts waiting to be put on the car including a complete 5 lug swap with correct Fox length rear axles and '94 front spindles. Problem is I need to drive the car so until I either get the Bronco back on the road or my new truck comes in, the new mods will have to wait for a while.

Absolutely George. It's actually in great shape. 66,000 miles. I could drive it everyday without worries, but I bought all these parts to put on so I'll definitely have some take offs.

You're just gonna have to wait a little while, couple of months, till I get the stuff done.

What else might you need?

The pony wheels are in perfect shape. No curb rash, no problems with the finish. I can't use them once I go 5 lug.

Had a power steering failure a couple of months ago when I was actually on my way to take the vert to storage. We moved and I just didn't have room for all the cars so I was storing the Bronco and the vert. Well there was a catastrophic high pressure hose failure and since I like to change things out while I'm already in there doing something I finally got the old girl out of storage and installed a new power steering rack and pinion and also a new billet steering shaft. The old rack and shaft were 20 years and the rag joint was just not something I wanted anymore in my car.

So I opted to go with an AGR quick ratio rack and I am also using Steeda's bumpsteer joints and doing away with the traditional tie rods. Its a spherical joint which will be harsher but I'm really not worried about it as the car had no feel before. Plus I have the ability to adjust my ends for bumpsteer one I lower the car with the new springs. So long story short the car now turns far better than I ever imagined. When you move the steering wheel the wheels turn. It also turns on a much smaller radius too. So now the turn radius is only roughly 1/2 the circumference of teh earth and the full radius like before.

I was very tempted to go ahead and do my front 5 lug swap as it would have been very easy to change out the spindles and lower control arms while I was in there, but I felt I needed more time to get the back done and I didn't want to go for a few weeks with a 5 lug front with 10th SVT wheels and a 4 lug back with Pony's on it.

So in total a steering shaft, rack and pinion, and 3 hoses were replaced today. Everything but the pump for now.

Here's pics of the new rack and the new steering shaft.

Hey Gary, are you a member of MCA? This months issue had a 4 to 5 lug conversion on a 93 GT, it made me think of you. Then at the end they showed a whole bunch of wheel options and they ended up with some 18" 2010 GT wheels on it.

Nice Gary! How was the steering shaft install? I have lots of play in my steering so that looks like a good first place to start!

It wasn't bad. It would be easier to just do the shaft instead of the whole thing. It was kind of a pain but it'd be easier the second time, you know.

It helped astronomically with play. The wheel has a great feel now. Kind of brought the car into the 21rst century if you ask me. I've got alot of bushings to replace in the front as the rack and shaft are the only things I've done so far.

Definitely worth it. I did have to cut the shaft though. You basically dry fit it with the knuckles and then mark it. I cut the shaft then dry fit it again and marked the where the set screws go for dimpling on the shaft so the shaft would not slide. But when it was said and done it was one of the best professional type jobs I've done. I have 100% confidence that the shaft is set and nothing could come loose.

Those tie rods have increased NVH though. So now I have even more rattles. I can feel the road in the steering wheel though and not in a bad way. I needed that bump steer kit though for the eventual drop of the Eibach springs.

I'm trying to decide what to do this weekend.

1. Finish putting the splitter on the R
2. Put the Brembos on the '07
3. Do my tune up on the vert (plugs, wires, coil, fuel filter, timing, etc)
4. Put the 5 lug front on the vert this week and put the 5 lug back on next week
