New Wheels...Will they fit?
I have my '69 Fastback and was wanting to put some 17X9 10th Anniversary Cobra Rims on it. But I do not know if they will fit and still look ok. I have read somewhere that I need a special wheel spacer kit but I have no idea where I read that at now....
Anybody have the scoop on this sort of thing?
Also,
Has anyone here bought anything from fastmustangparts.com? They have pretty good prices, but I do not want to get screwed you know?
Thanks!

They can be made to fit with an adaptor set like this (halfway down the page).
As far as looks??? IMO, the late model wheels don't "look" right on the early cars - there's no "dish" to the wheel, and with the 1" spacers, the brakes are too far "inside" the wheel. I'd (personally) much prefer getting wheels that actually fit and not messing with adaptors. That's MY opinion only - I know a lot of guys are doing the adaptor thing....

The adapter idea always bothered me too. I would be worried about changing the geometry of the front suspension with the adapters, causing abnormal strain and premature failure of some critical part... Maybe that's hogwash, but I prefer wheels with proper backspacing and offset too.
Yeah, I am not so sure about it now either...
Maybe I will just keep looking.
Or how about any suggestions.
I currently run 15X7" Cragar Street Star wheels, they are steel and not in that good of condition anymore.
But I want something different from the usual torque thrusts, bullit or magnum 500's
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks for the replies

I personally have no problem with seeing late model wheels and adapters on a classic. Perhaps if I had high-dollar disc brakes on all four courners I'd feel differently. :P
Of the dozens and dozens (hundreds by now?) of people I've seen running latemodel wheels, mostly Bullitts, I have yet to hear anything from anybody regarding any sort of failure with the adapters.

When it comes to wheels the only limitations are usually budgets (though for the 4 lug guys it's selection). I recommend looking into other suppliers than the standard American Racing fare to find unique and quality wheels. I'll be honest though, the new Cragars have grown on me. I set of 18"s on a 69/70 with the right stance would look mean.
I agree with Jay, look at the following pic of this 1969 mach 1, I love the stance on this car. The wheels gave this car the aggressivness it needed, and it looks REALLY good. Don't ruin your fastback with a set of wheels that do not suit it. And if you are going with a set of wheels that do not properly fit the car, go for the conversion kits, I personally cannot stand to see spacers/adapters on a car if they could be avoided. Anyways, hope you find the right wheels for your car, oh, and could you post a pic of your car after the paint, A.S.A.P, Nathan
