Mice Problems
I was having some work done at my local restoration shop and was informed that a mouse has made a hole in my convertible top. Is the shop owner responsible for this or am I? The owner implied that I was only because I had a mouse problem 5 years earlier and I may have brought the car to him with a mouse in it. The car has been there since early november and this problem was just discovered. Can anyone shed some light on this problem?
P.S. I store my car in the garage and I may go weeks without driving it. Is there a product that will prevent rodents from entering the car?
Thanks

did they store the car with the roof down? Do you? If you took the car to them with the roof down, then they probably have the upper hand, if it was up, they should be responsible. This all assumes that the damage was done with the roof down!
As for rodent prevention, get a cat!!!

I have heard that dryer sheets, sprinkled liberally inside the car, will keep mice out. Under the seats, in the trunk and so forth. Smell good, too.
Plus, they keep your car from having annoying Static Cling.

Believe it or not one of the best deterents against rodents is a simple bar of Irish Spring, it has a particular addative that they can not stand. Moth ***** help to keep away insect pests as well.
As for your dilema, this is tricky. stinks particularly since your top is new. You could try to see if any other cars in his shop have damage too but then he might blame it all on you bringing the mouse with you. Do you need the guy anymore? Is his work compitent? I guess you really have to decide if you can afford to alienate the guy or not regardless of right or wrong if you need him as an allie. The right thing in my mind would be for both of you to split it when exact blame can't be pinned but the world was not formed by King Solomon.

The burden of proof is on you. You have to prove the mouse was not in your car.
