gear drive or timing chain

gear drive or timing chain

is there any differance in a gear drive to a timing chain. does it help the HP or the MPG. I have 351 windsor w/ a 650 holly carb and holly manifold. alittle bit of a cam and hooker headers. w/ a 3 speed trans w/ a 9" rear the vehicle is a 66 coupe
