Clunking noise on first gear autuo transmission !!

Hi guys this my first post in here, i've been reading a lot in this wbsite because i'm new in the Mustang world.

I've bought my mustang GT/CS 2011 a month ago with 66000K miles on it with an autumatic transmission.

I'll explain my problem and I hope you guys understand me because English is not my mother tongue language..

So my problem is when i'm driving in a heavy traffic I hear clunking noise in the first gear, it cruises in the first gear until 20 or 30 Kilometers then I take my leg off the gas paddle I hear the clunk noise, and sometimes I hear continuously!!!!! Is taht normal guys or I should check the fluid?!!!

Hi JMU and welcome to the forum,

I have a 2012 GT with the infamous trans clunk, but mine is a manual, not an automatic. I am not concerned about my clunky trans as it seems to be prevalent in the MT82's. Hopefully someone who has an auto will reply. Just a suggestion, but you may want to edit your title to reference it's an automatic transmission issue.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy the new ride.

Laura

Factory 2-piece drive shaft or a one-piece unit? Aluminum units clunk for some people. The CF unit I just installed does not seem to transmit sound like aluminum does so it is quiet.

I've checked every single piece in the whole suspension no one could find anything makes the noise so I think yes it is the Lower Control Arm problem 💔

My 2013 automatic does it sometimes too. Its a very common problem. I wish there be a manufacturers recall for it.
