1970 Electrical Problems

I cannot get my 1970 302, A/T started. Lights will not come on, no horn, no brake lights, etc. I've been thru all the routine stuff at some point recently - new battery, relay, battery cables, alternator loom, voltage regulator. Car is dead, but had been running fine prior to winter storage. Any and all thoughts appreciated.

must have froze to death .. put a trickle charger on the battery and slowly build it back up ... sounds totally dead to me.... or do you mean you have done all the new stuff trying to get it to start .. sounds like a bad main fuseable link perhaps.. that`s the soft big red wire coming from the solenoid .. it feeds the inside of the car .. but even at that you should still have other things that work . unless the battery is stone dead ..

Was the battery new after winter or before. A battery that froze can have a dead short in it and you won't even be able to jump it. Clip a test light to the chassis some where and start at the battery checking for power. Work your way to the fuse box and see if you can find where power stops at.

Battery is not the culprit. The current battery in the car is only a week old and passes all the tests I have put it to. I have also tried 2 other batteries from operable vehicles with no success, so I can say with confidence that the problem is not with the battery. Does a fuseable link show any physical signs of failure?

sometimes not .. pull on it and see if it breaks easily .. also there is the ignition switch that hangs on top of the steering collumn .. it can have a burnt wire that feeds everything .. you really should ask a mechanic for a quick look at it ..
