If you do that will they hit the framerails?? Or the steering shaft or the crossmember???

with my luck it still wont fit so i was just going to clean them up and send them back and get different ones.

well, after getting my brother to help me look at it, he said to remove the steering arm and it should slide right in. He was right, the driver side went in without even having to try really. Tested it out straight headers

I've only ever heard it on a seriously lifted (AKA 39.5 inch super swampers, with room to spare) mid '80s K5 Blazer. The headers were about ear level. It was SOOO loud

Ok that explains it. I have open headers on my 4x4 with a SB 400 and open headers.

What kind of exhaust do you have on it?

If/When I get my 302 I am going with the shelby 2 1/4" side exhaust setup.
