1966 Ford Mustang Coupe Build Chronicle w Engine Upgrade!
15-35k huh? Ouch!
You're going from bad to worse. lol
I don't think I would be good at body work either. That's almost as much an art as well as a skill.
I don't know if I'll ever get mine painted. I'm not about to go out in the Texas heat and sand for hours on end.

i wouldnt trust myself with body work, lol, I was also thinking of having someone else do body work and I paint it and have my brother help since he has painted a car before. I emailed lanzini (The guy who did some paint jobs for overhaulin) for fun, they said it would cost anywhere from 15-30k for them to do that. depending on if it needs to be sand blasted or anything. so there went my dream of having them paint it, lol
Yeah, it almost seems that it would be easier to start with all new panels. I read the other day in Mustang Monthly that a rear quarter panel is only $110. That's for a Dynacron Ford OE tooling part. Of course you will still have to do some sanding for the joints where it attaches to the car, but that would be easier then trying to repair some panel with a bunch of dents, etc in it.
I think the front fender is only around $160. I think you would still have to tweak it to get your gaps to come out right, but then you would have new rust free panels that would last for years!
Of course frames and that are a different story. But they also make entire floors boards now in case you need to replace them. It might be easier then trying to patch things up.
