Mustang Shelby GT350s On Track

Business Insider makes strong case for why Ford Performance Racing School should be a must-do for Mustang buyers.

Ever heard the saying, “No two test drives in a Shelby GT350 are ever the same”?

No? Well, there’s probably a good reason for that. Namely, because we pretty much made it up. Sill the point is, even with all the rave reviews we’ve read about the more track-focused Mustang, there’s nothing like having a chance to personal take the wheel.

Matthew Debord Business Insider

That idea comes through crystal clear in a report posted on Business Insider that details the experience that writer Matthew Debord recently had behind the wheel of the Shelby GT350 at Ford’s Performance Racing school.

Now, before you hit the link to read Matthew’s original story, you need to know that the piece contains a lot of information that we’ve discussed here before at The Mustang Source like the unique features on the Shelby GT350 and how it handles in high performance situations. However, what makes Matthew’s story interesting, is the detail in which he describes the preparation getting him ready to strap in the Shelby GT350.
For example, part of the preliminary session including learning how to sit properly in a car like the Shelby GT350 when it’s been equipped for a day at the track. Probably never thought of that, huh? Well, as detailed in the Business Insider report, it requires a lot more than just sliding into the Recaro racing seats and strapping on the four-point racing harness.

“We needed to be able to comfortably extend our left clutching foot and keep a 90-degree bend in our arms when holding the steering wheel at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock,” writes Matthew. The preliminary instructions also included more detailed performance tips on picking a break point and appropriate pedal pressure as well as stressing the importance of drinking water to stay dehydrated.

Sure, some of the things Matthew point out might seem pretty basic, but apparently, they give you an entirely different type of experience behind the wheel of a car like the Shelby GT350, which is why Ford offers all new Shelby GT350 owners a free day at the racing school.
