2018 Ford Mustang Order Guide Highlights New Option Packages

Two new performance packages and a blackout trim package have been added to the Mustang lineup. We’re incredibly happy about them.

There’s a trio of new packages for 2018-model-year Mustangs including an Ecoboost Performance Pack, a GT Performance Pack, and a Black Accent Pack. Each one of these new option packages is exciting in its own right, but for obvious reasons, we’re most excited about the awesome parts included in the GT Performance Pack. In each case, these packages prove that Ford is interested in making a uniquely packaged Mustang for each buyer. While the Mustang order guide will never again be quite as modular as it was in the ’60s, this is a step in the right direction.

The GT Performance Pack comes with 19×9 and 19×9.5 wheels on summer tires, a unique front splitter, six-piston Brembo brakes, a rear spoiler (not on convertibles), a strut tower and K-brace, springs that Ford is calling “Heavy-duty” for the front only, a beefier rear sway bar and a larger radiator.

There’s also a unique setting for the Mustang GT’s stability control, EPAS, and ABS tuning. That should make for an interesting drive to say the least. Is it enough to take on Camaro’s 1LE package?

The Ecoboost Performance Pack gets a lot of the same goodies as the GT pack, including the wheels and tires (this time in 19X9 on all four corners), the strut tower brace, extra gauges, the rear spoiler (still for fastbacks only), the larger rear sway bar, the larger radiator, and the unique chassis electronics. If you opt for the four-cylinder turbo Mustang with this package, you won’t be getting the deeper splitter, the K-brace, the heavy-duty springs, or the six-piston Brembos, which is kind of a bummer.

If you want style over substance, you should opt for the Black Accent Package. It includes 19×8.5 Ebony Black wheels, a black, raised deck lid spoiler, a black pony badge on the grille, and if you order this on a GT, the GT on the back and the 5.0 badges on the sides will also be black. The package also includes a black-painted roof panel. This package will look awesome on one of the brighter colors, like Orange Fury.
