Watch this Turbocharged Mustang Shelby GT500 Shoot Giant Flames

Turbocharged Mustang Shelby GT500

Fully built from one end to the other, this turbocharged Mustang Shelby GT500 also doubles as a great fire starter.

No matter which generation you’re talking about, the mighty Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has always represented the ultimate, king of the hill variant of The Blue Oval’s iconic pony car. That was true of the first-gen model, and it’s also true today, with the outgoing S550 gen GT500. However, with the right modifications, these cars can be taken even further down the performance spectrum, as is clearly evident by the latest build to emerge from the shop of YouTuber Andrew Sheridan and his channel, Mustang Lifestyle – this wild, flame-throwing, turbocharged Mustang Shelby GT500.

This turbocharged Mustang Shelby GT500 is a fresh build that hasn’t even hit the dyno yet, but Sheridan notes that it should easily make more than 1,000 horsepower once that happens. For now, he’s just trying to get some break-in miles on the car and its brand new Vengeance stage 3 clutch, so he’s running just four pounds of boost from the rather large hair dryer. With a huge pipe sticking out where the front bumper might normally be, it also doubles as a pretty sweet flame thrower, too.

Aside from that giant turbo, this 2007 GT500 isn’t quite stock in any other way, either – in fact, it has been treated to a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 swap, as well as a T56 manual gearbox and a Holley Terminator X setup. From front to rear, there isn’t much that hasn’t been modified here, which becomes clearly evident when we’re treated to a video tour of the incomplete yet sinister build.

Upon start up, it’s immediately clear to anyone within striking distance of this GT500 that it’s no ordinary Mustang. This thing sounds downright nasty, which perfectly matches its sinister appearance and drag-focused Weld wheels and big and little setup. The fact that it’s also equipped with a two-step only adds to the race car vibes, but Sheridan can’t resist showing off the car’s ability to make fire on command, and we certainly can’t blame him.

It won’t be long before we get to see this turbocharged GT500 hit the dyno and the track, moments that we – along with Sheridan – are certainly looking forward to. But for now, we’ll just have to settle for watching him show off its unique capabilities and imagine what sort of numbers it’ll ultimately lay down.
