Mustang Egomaniacs, Please Stop Giving Us a Bad Name
Every time you show off like this, you make every other Mustang owner look bad.
Mustang owners have a reputation for being poor drivers. The tired, hacky jokes about Mustang hitting Cars & Coffee crowds are as tired as BMW turn signal jokes and BMW vape jokes. However, that seemingly hasn’t stopped some Mustang owners from acting stupid behind the wheel.
Brandon Calderon, a Mustang owner himself, recently uploaded a video to Facebook, where the latest example of Mustang owner idiocy is on full display. According to Calderon’s caption, he was on the roof of a parking deck at sunset to take photos of his silver Mustang.
That’s when a red 5.0 showed up and decided to start showing off by doing burnouts. Parking lots offer wide open spaces, with one notable exception – light poles and their big, concrete bases. There aren’t many of them, but it’s still important to keep an eye out for them. Care to guess what happened next?
Smash or Pass
The red 5.0 slides into one of those light posts, smashing the front of the Mustang to bits. It was a pretty impressive hit, too, square on the front. The airbags deploy, and the hazards come on immediately. The sound and the fury of the Coyote V8 is silenced.
That perfect dead-center hit has us wondering if this was a classic case of panic-induced target fixation. Either way, the Mustang is toast, and the driver is possibly injured, all over a stupid show-off.
Was the S550 5.0 owner trying to show off his superiority to an S197 V6 owner? Possibly. We aren’t strangers to ripping on the V6 guys here, but we’d have to give them a tally in the win column over this one. Only one of these Mustangs drove home that night, and it wasn’t the V8.
When you’re out on the street, you might be tempted to show off and have fun. Just remember that, at the end of the day, you’re representing all of us. Don’t be an idiot, and try not to make us look bad. Calderon said it best in his post. His appeal is simple. “Please have some respect for our surroundings.”
