Leaked drawings would promise even more power than expected. We can almost hear the ferocious revving now.

As we recently reported, the web has been buzzing over spy shots and leaked images of the new Mustang Shelby GT500. As more images emerged this week, we now can add another piece to the puzzle.

2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Spy Shots

CAD (Computer-Aided Design) drawings were leaked online that appear to show the engine of the supercharged 5.3-liter V8 engine. An eagle-eyed Mustang fan found the images online, that were labeled as “Shelby GT350 engine wiring diagrams.” The powerhouse engine, going by the very cool and appropriate name “Predator,” is similar to the existing Shelby GT350 engine, but with a more traditional cross-plane crankshaft. The drawings claimed that this was a GT350 engine, but the engine is a supercharged unit, and even had a Shelby emblem on the diagram. Hmm.

Previous images released a few weeks ago, like the one from the Instagram account of MustangMannyLV, showed a 5.2-liter supercharged V-8 emblazoned with the iconic Shelby Cobra snake logo. Many think this was a sneak peek of what will be under the new Shelby’s hood.

We can only guess at this point what all this means, but if it is legit this would produce much more horsepower than initially expected, making the Shelby GT500 a serious beast. And we’re so into that. The Shelby could be released next year, or set its sights for sometime in 2019 or 2020. We’re hoping for more answers at the North American International Auto Show when it hits motor city next month.
