Oh man...I'm OCD too and noticed the alignment on the right front fender was off from the passenger door. Sticks out about 1/4" or so. Driver side is flush. I noticed this when I first brought the car home. Called the dealer and the body shop manager looked at it and agreed to fix it.

That's about what my rear driver-side look like. Passenger side is all flush.
Today I think a noise I've been hearing is directly related to my uneven panels. Ever since I've gotten the car, once every few trips or so, a noise is heard coming from the rear. It sounds like I ran over something, and every time I look in my mirror and see nothing.
Finally it hit me. I think the noise is from the panel "popping." Like it's getting warmed up. Like how a tin metal roof will pop and crack when sun hits it.
So it makes me thing now that the misalignment is causing this noise I hear.

What did the dealer say about your misaligned bumper.panel? I purchased mine through the Costco auto buying program and dealt directly with the internet sales manager so when he saw my defect, they decided pretty quick that they needed to fix it. I'm taking it in next week to get the panel aligned since I'm also getting eckbond sealant and lojack installed.

I think one of the reasons they're getting away with it and letting crap like this slide from the factory is the sheer number of people out there that don't notice stuff like that anymore or simply don't give a ****. I've noticed that people these days, especially young people just don't care about cars and only view them as an appliance. They'd be more upset about a scratch on their cell phone than a dent in their car.

... For example, Tesla autopilot. Tesla is an electric car and putting it on autopilot means you're putting your life in the hands of a car. That car can be hacked into, malfunction, or react to something around it and you're ****ed. A lot of people don't think of it though because all they think about is how it looks. .....
and, welcome to the forum!

Yes, I completely agree that your knowledge background with cars is far beyond that of a high school freshman.. God only knows we need more young people like yourself to keep the classic and muscle car era alive... Meanwhile, thanks for sharing your story and welcome aboard
