I guess I've been very lucky. Very.
But in all the years I've had Awesome (since June '08), she's not had a door ding. The bumper smack, yeah, but that got fixed.
She's officially been dinged, and dinged good. Some yahoo at the grocery store must have opened their door unto my driver's door, just ahead of the mirror.
Put a big ol' deposit of blackish paint on there..
But worse, the body crease is now vertically creased. Dented.
I'm so disgusted. At myself for not parking out in the boonies like I probably should, but more to the point...
WHY are people so ignorant?
Of course, we're talking about the same people who leave the baskets strewn about the lot, and also exit in the *middle* of the exit... to go right.
Meh. I'm hoping the dent guy will be able to make it all better... Still. Not a happy camper.
Thanks for lettin' me vent. You people rock, and aren't the suck I allude to in my title.

That sucks man. I hate people like that too. If you don't care about your car, that's fine...go f*ck up your own car. I care about mine, so have some respect for other people's possessions and stay away from it. I hope you can get it fixed up. I'm guessing whoever did it was already gone?
I actually watched in horror as some mother let her kid push a shopping cart in at heb over here in corpus. Kid runs as fast as he can and lets go of the cart. Heres where it gets scary, with my bad luck the cart makes a straight line for the front part of my bumper. I sprint to save my baby but all effort was in vain. Slammed into tge car actually breakin through the the bumper cover! The woman doesnt even know what happned, she even swore her son would never do such a thing and said " i should be ashamed fir blaming a child for my own irresponsibility." she then drives off in an old 74 camaro with zip ties holding on both bumpers and a missing passenger rear view mirror with the kid making faces at me through the rear window....
I've had a dent in my passenger door about the size of a quarter right next to the crease for about 5 years now... Funny thing is... I was parked at the end of a row, so as to "protect" my car. Guess the red SUV that parked next to me needed to be real close.
Not to mention all the scratches I have on my front and rear bumpers from people not knowing how to back out of parking spaces. I hate working at a mall...

I've watched people purposely leave baskets in handicap spaces and the watched as other people just walked up and left more until the space was completely full.
Watched people block a clearly marked emergancy exit just to stay out of the rain.
Speaking of which, watched a guy one day pull into an automotive shop bay just to keep his wife and kid from getting wet. Wasn't there to get a serivce of any sort, just figured it was alright to do that.
Watched people at a Costco when it was raining pull right up to the exit and block it so they load there stuff without getting wet.
Seen a person ram a basket right into the back of another vehicle so they could get into a spot.
Seen a person pull into the cart return and use it as a parking space. Oddly nobody returned carts there? I guess they thought it was pretty clever????
Watched a guy get his legs crushed when somebody was pulling into a parking spot as they pinched him betweem the bumper of another car.
Watched an idiot at a Walmart almost flip his S-10 Blazer as he speed across the front of the store <--- pretty sure he stole something.
I notice everybody has the right of way in a parking lot. Tonnage definetly rules.
IMO, I have a theory that you can judge the worth of a country by observing how people act in a parking lot.
So far america, you get an F minus x one gozillion.

Oh I know how that feels! 6 days after I got mine back from the bodyshop from a hit and run, some jerk of a woman left one hell of a nice "ding" which was about two inches long right in my freshly painted quarter panel. I was piiiiiiiiissed. Luckily though, the bodyshop felt bad for me and repaired it at no cost.
However, at some recent point I noticed someone decided to use my entire hood as a drawing pad. Luckily for me, it wasn't very deep so I once again had my usual bodyshop buff it out, along with some markings a customer's dog made after he was a little excited to see me and jumped on my door.
After a while you just take these things in stride, and become good friends with your bodyshop owner.

I myself have been the victim of the door getting blown in the wind and flying out of my grip. I hate that. It does happen to the best of us, and... *BAM!* "Dangit..."
But even if I did that, there is NO WAY IN HECK that I'd be trying to then get out of the car, I pull the door back in... so all that's left is hopefully no more than the small ding, maybe a little paint...
... not a ding AND A RUBBING UP AND DOWN. Sheesh.
But I'm calm, really... honest....

Corollary to that, I was at another store this morning... I see a woman put a basket *behind someone else's car*, then get in, back out, and drive away...

Now, that's bad enough, as it's truly slovenly to do that. That is the epitome of complete disregard for others, and shows your true inner self. I wanted to *BLOCK* her from leaving, but... I suspect it wouldn't have mattered, and likely gotten me in jail or something.
But that's not the worst of it. Not even close. The worst of it is not a car length's away, on the other side of the lane, directly in line with where she left the basket?
The basket leaving collection place. That's right. Not 10 steps away, and it would have been 'properly' put in place.
THAT, dear friends, is what we have to deal with in today's society.
It was sad.
I find that the overwhelming majority of humanity needs a good, solid, punch to the face every once in a while. I hear the sudden extreme pressures exerted on a persons cranium prevent it from further expanding
Well, the worse news I just got: Dent guy can't fix it, it has to be body worked. The dent is just opposite the upper hinge, and there's no space to work the panel.
I haz a sad.
I haz a sad.

Well that sucks. Depending on how bad the dent was, I'd have some serious thoughts about getting it fixed if PDR is not an option. That's most likely going to entail blending on over to the fender as well, and I had a nightmare with an issue like that on a brand new '08 GT/CS. So bad that I ended up selling it with less than 2k miles on it.
As for the shopping carts, I go out of my way to get them. If I see one out in the lot, I'll take it back to the corral or what ever they call the return area on my way into the store.
