in my thoughts and prayers...
Went to visit her in the hospital. She's still in REALLY bad shape, but we think she's over the worst of it. She's drinking a lot of water now (She finished her 3rd bowl while we were there) but she's so weak she cannot sit up to drink it. Hasn't eaten a bite, but she never does when she's away from home. Still hoping she can come home tomorrow.
Some pics of her in the hospital. Sorry about the quality.
You can see the IV tube in her arm.
This is how she is drinking.
They will be running another series of blood tests and xrays in a couple of hours and we're supposed to get an update on her condition then. Hopefully it's good news.

What a stressful day.
My dog is still in the hospital. She's doing better, but she's still not quite where she needs to be before coming home. They plan on transferring her from the hospital to the vet in the morning for one more day of observation, and barring any problems she should be coming home tomorrow evening.
Went and spent an hour at the hospital with her today. They had her doped up with a shot of doggie morphine, so she was a bit out of it. Still, she was obviously doing a lot better. Her eyes were clear and bright and despite being doped up she tried to sit up for us when we opened her cage to pet her. She felt thicker, and her drool was watery instead of a thick mucas type slobber that she's had the past few days. She was breathing easier than she had been as well.
So, the worst is over and she's definitely getting better. One more day and she should be coming home................ Provided I can make it through the ice storm to go get her.

Glad to hear some good news. I empathize with you. If only they could speak and tell us how they feel or where it hurts.

Just got some really great news.... SHE'S EATING!
First solid food she's eaten since Thursday. They said she's getting up and they are letting her walk on her own to go outside and relieve herself as well. She's still on the IV but she's no longer dehydrated at all and is showing very clear signs of improvement. They're doing one final blood test in the morning so I can have the results to give to the vet.
As long as nothing really unexpected pops up they strongly expect that once she's transferred to her regular vet and he's examined her she will be able to go on oral antibiotics and come home to finish her treatment and recovery.
What a stress-filled week. This is now my wife....

i'm in between my pvr shows tonight and noticed my youngest, Tag being his usual goofy, pretzely self. At one point he was sleeping with his paw in his mouth. Then he rolled over, and went back to sleep with a paw behind his head. what a nutcase.
