They want to keep her on IV fluids and antibiotics for another day, but they said they believe we can bring her back home tomorrow. She's gonna live!

Excellent news!

Went to visit her in the hospital. She's still in REALLY bad shape, but we think she's over the worst of it. She's drinking a lot of water now (She finished her 3rd bowl while we were there) but she's so weak she cannot sit up to drink it. Hasn't eaten a bite, but she never does when she's away from home. Still hoping she can come home tomorrow.

Some pics of her in the hospital. Sorry about the quality.

You can see the IV tube in her arm.

They will be running another series of blood tests and xrays in a couple of hours and we're supposed to get an update on her condition then. Hopefully it's good news.

I hope you get news and I hope she can come home tomorrow. At least she's drinking water and not throwing that up. Maybe she doesn't like the food they are offering up. Ask if you can bring her some food from home and hang out with her while she eats.
Good luck man!

Good luck man!

She won't eat when we are not all at home even when she's healthy. Usually, every Thanksgiving we spend at my in-laws in Houston. We normally spend 3-4 days there and she'll only eat a cup of food the entire time. We kenneled her once for a family reunion where dogs weren't allowed and she didn't eat a thing despite us providing her food.

I'm not really worried about her not eating right now. Just hoping that we caught it before too much damage was done to her kidneys. She's over the biggest hurdle, the next question is how well will she recover.

Not to mention the cost... Another couple of days in the hospital and I might have to start selling bodily fluids to pay the bills.

Yeah, dogs are like that. They get home sick and worry about their surroundings. When we went on vacation to New York while I was younger with my parents, we put our German Shepherd into a kennel for the week and I swear to you, the dog was so upset and didn't warm up to us for a day or two.
I bet those hospital bills are OUTRAGEOUS! Overnight stays and care is not cheap. But, they are part of the family. Good luck.

I have no problem contributing to help pay her bills. I'm sure others would feel the same...

Just spoke to the hospital. She's improving. Her temperature is normal and has stayed normal all day and her latest blood test came back showing a drop in the white blood cell count which is very good.

They were reluctant to say when she can come home, but she is getting better.

The bills are crazy. The good part is we have a real, dedicated emergency hospital for animals in our area. It's not a vet office, it's where vets send cases that are too extreme for the vet to properly treat. This place has equipment you would normally only see used on humans. I should have taken pictures of the computer controlled IV pump they had her on.

Bills are roughly $1k per day. We're OK so far, we've already paid for care through tomorrow, but at $1k per day I'm really hoping she comes home tomorrow.

I REALLY appreciate the offer, but right now, we're good. I'm more venting than anything. I can guarantee you my dog won't have anything less than the best possible care regardless of the cost.
