Cruises are great if you take them for the right reason. That reason is food, food and more food. My wife had never been on one so we did a 7-day Caribbean trip that hit Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Cancun. Their 24-hour gourmet pizzeria almost did me in. Prime rib, goat cheese and wild mushroom pizzas every single day. When we went home, I literally could not put on the same pants I wore to get there!
I have been on scores of cruises (mostly when I was young) I was working for a travel agency in South Florida back when you could still get free airfare and accommodations and so forth.
Wife said that was enough for her. She would rather pay more to get somewhere fast and stay there. When 3/4 of the trip is spent just getting somewhere for an 8-hour port call it does seem kind of ridiculous.
