Best thing you can do with kids. Quiet time at the dinner table is one of the best things you can do. Lives may be out of control the rest of the time, but a meal alone can really connect with them. No distractions, just conversation for a few minutes over a meal is worth hours of other time.

That **** is a rule around here. I don't care how busy you are at work, what is going on, etc. Supper is quiet time to talk and enjoy a meal with the family. Even my little one that is always connected to friends and family loves meal time where its peaceful and nothing but family talk. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

My dad always has to answer the phone during dinner. Even if the caller id says its a telemarketer.

I read that some restaurants in Manhattan are offering a 5 or 10 percent discount on the bill if you check your cell phone at the doorvso you cannot use it while you are eating. As for my idiocy, it was a call I was expecting regarding the bike ride I had planned for today. But still not a good excuse

A certain person I work with will come out of his office back to where we all sit, start a convo with us about work or whatever, 30sec into it will start walking away, while talking and proceed to go into the bathroom mid conversation. leaves us going wtf.

Nah, just trying to keep an important piece of human culture intact and pass it on to another generation. Hell, throughout recorded history the meal has always played a central role in the most important aspects of life. I feel that's one of the major problems with the world today is that we've let our traditions get muddled and watered down to the point that civility is going down the ****ter.

Somebody on the East coast has to balance out Commiefornia; the Peoples' Republik of Massachusetts drew the short straw. Sex change operation, indeed.

Spoken like someone from Indiana, a state nobody ever talks about. Indiana Jones has more rep. ...and California is a commie state, when you live in a leeching red state like Indiana. :haha sure:

I thought it was funny. Especially since when I read posts by Nathan, and the rest of you Mn. boys, in my my head I hear them being spoken in the voice of Jerry Lundegaard in Fargo.
