There's a large majority of the younger generation who has no idea what that is.

At least here in this area. I know my kids, including oldest, have no idea.

Yeah, you're right. I guess as I get older I just assume things and don't realize how much things have changed, I probably still see the world from a perspective of my own experiences.

I seriously doubt mine has ever heard the word either.

My grandmother who's deceased taught me all the words one day when we were driving home from Dairy Queen. I was probably about 8 I think. I remember it very distinctly.

My grandmother still calls them colored and means no ill will at all, doesn't have a racist bone in her body.

I remember one time about ten years ago I took her riding around through a new subdivision that was developed on some property I had sold. Lot of really nice large homes and down toward the end there was a new house that had just been built by a guy I know.

He was standing outside watering the lawn and she noticed him and did a double take, looked at me with a surprised face and said in an astonished voice "there's a colored man!!" You'd have thought she had seen a ****ing martian, lol. I told her it was my friend and asked her why she was so shocked. She said, "I've just never seen one of them way out here before".

I said hell, hes lived right down the road for 25 years, sold that place and bought 3 lots in here for a new house and about 40 acres behind them to put his horses on.

Wow lol...I don't exactly represent America's youth (I'll be 29 in 3 weeks!!), growing up watching westerns and TCM with my parents and grandparents, so I have obviously heard the word. "Ignorance is not a defense." Okay, sure dude. What does the father want? For the teacher to be fired? Yeah, that'll teach her and her students! So sick of the pvssies in this country!! Maybe I'll pop a squat with Kaepernick...

Obviously one of the kids in the class suggested it. They were probably ****ing with her and she had no idea.

This reminded me of something I heard on NPR radio once - driving listening to it and the PC nature of everything was astounding. The reporter then was talking about an incident in Europe, can't remember which country now, but proceeded to be very PC and say it affected many "African-American Europeans".

Not nearly as bad as the crap the news does around here as to not broach the subject and stay as PC as possible. They'll report on a violent crime, shooting, rape, armed robbery, etc. and ask for the public's help in finding the suspect. When they give the description, they'll only mention the race of who they're looking for if its a white guy.

Example:

Police are asking for the public's help or witnesses looking for a white male, 5'10", 160lbs, blue pants, white shirt, red baseball cap.

Or..

Police are asking for the public's help or witnesses looking for a male, 5'10", 160lbs, blue pants, white shirt red baseball cap.

They seem like they really want the public's help finding the suspect, but they wont dare say it was a black guy that they're looking for. Are you really wanting to find the criminal? If so, why not give us a good description, hell, the race would help narrow it down a LOT.

Just the other day a guy robbed 4 people at gun point, made them take their pants off and took all their stuff.

The description on the local news?

Police are asking the public to call with any information they have about the crime. "The suspect was described as a man with a gun". Seriously? In the South? "a man with a gun" describes about half the population down here, lol.

Any time you hear a description that doesn't mention the race of the suspect, you automatically know its a black guy they're looking for, they just won't say it.
