Platform History Lesson - Ford nameplates listed only:

Falcon Platform:
1960-70 Falcon and Ranchero - 1962-70 Fairlane - 1964 1/2-1973 Mustang - 1968-70 Torino - 1969-77 Maverick - 1975-80 Granada

Fox Platform:
1978-83 Fairmont - 1979-93 Mustang - 1980-88 Thunderbird - 1981-82 Granada - 1983-86 LTD

The 1981-82 Granada which was an alternately styled version of the Fairmont shared it's platform with the Fairmont during those two years only, then it was restyled into the 1983-86 LTD.

The Ghia with the opera windows and vinyl top looks really out of style these days. But the standard coupe with no vinyl top and the Mach 1 fastback are cool looking.
