what do you guys think? would the Ghia be a good idea or not for Ford. and for those of you who might not know what im taking about, the Ghia was a version of the Mustang II in the 70s. for more on Mustang IIs try www.mustangii.net

IF we must I would rather it be called grande. Ghia sounds even worse than grande.

I would prefer the sprint.

It depends how they make it look with this body style. Might be good, might be bad. The way my imagination see's it, it could look cool.

I would go with the one I did with the Vinyl top for the Grande though. Also, as someone pointed out, the rear window of my chop there would have to be further back, as the seats are basically over the wheel well and how it is there wouldn't work.

Wow, seeing the 2005 in true coupe form makes you realize how close to the originals it is.

First of all The Ghia would Never Make It! :nono: t was a Mustang II thing, and Ford Doesn't really want to associate the 05 Stang to the II's. And I think the days of the Vinyl top have past! Only OLD Guys and Hoopties get Vinyl Tops today. No Modern Car Looks Right with a Vinyl Top.

As for the Coupe now, Here's a Coupe I did, that addressed the issue of the rear seat, I did it more like a 67-73 Coupe as the rear window is recessed. I think Ford should add a coupe back to the lineup.

Did I open my calander to the wrong page? Is this April 1st? Your're putting us on arn't you?

If you're asking whether a notchback 05 Mustang would fly, my answer is yes.

But if you're asking about a Ghia model like the Mustang II that had a half vinyl roof and whimpy trim accents, the answer is NO NO NO NO NO. :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

A notchback mustang would fly, but there is no point making tooling for another roofline IMO. It already looks good enough as a fastback.

I agree... vynil tops got left behind in the 70's, lets keep them there. Have you ever seen a new car where the owner has a vynil top installed? looks terrible IMO

A notchback may fly, but I would never buy one. Especially if it resembled one those ghias. That is the WORST looking mustang by far IMO (Notice I said IMO). :notnice: Obviously ford doesn't think that style would fly since they haven't been around for years. Decipher you did a great job on the chop man! B) But it put's it into perspective for me.... I Love those fastbacks. Even if I were to buy a 60's stang I would shoot for a vert or a fastback. Never liked the notchbacks really.

What do you guys think about the hatch-style? When was that introduced?

Those P.S. posted above kinda look like where the modern day T-bird would have headed if they didnt redesign it.

BTW,,,,,,only newer cars ive seen with the vynil tops are the lincoln's and caddy's,,,,,,,,but their ussualy limo's.

Umm. Not liking that idea at all. No Grande, No Ghia.

:gay:

That's just my opinion, though. I'd rather see a htahcback version of the current 05 stang. That'd be nice.

I'm not a big fan of hatchbacks, though the only one's I've seen in person are the Civic one's, and they kinda make me want to crap myself... or on the car, whichever I'm in the mood for...

I had a 89 LX and the hatchbacks looked much nicer than a notchback IMO. Cool car except it was just a 4 banger. Remember when you could buy a LX with a v8? Was that only the 87-93's?

The way fuel prices are going up, we have a better chance of seeing a "Mustang MPG" again...they could use the new duratec 2.3L engine used on the Escape, same size as the "Mustang II MPG" 2.3L ...how's that for nostalGHIA...
