My first ride on a Mustang was on one of those notches, only faded green w dead rear shocks. Hated those back seats with a passion

I think of my Fox as a sporty Granada- thank you very much...
BTW, I never could figure out how they got a 302 in that car

coulda sworn it was the fairmont platform that th fox and granada were on

anyhow, the way to get a 302 in properly, is the correct mounts and exhaust manis. my install was a hack, so fox mounts have been installed on the stock cross member, this causes my motor to sit a few inches too high. the stock exhaust barely fits in there. truth be told, i often wish i had left it as a v6. lighter weight, better handling and i could have made 300hp with it

hindsights 20/20 right? :P

I've also seen IIs with 351 (windsor and cleveland), 429s, 4.6L, 5.4L lighning motor. you can with enough work, get anything in there

(btw, in case it wasnt apparent, i do love the fox )

I always thought the Granada/Fairmount platform were more or less the same. As for the V8, I'm sure that there were IIs that had 302/5.0 engines as a factory option, which had an earth shattering 175ish hp.

Please correct me if Im wrong.

yeah there were, but its so hard to track down those factory manifolds and motor mounts. and the aftermarket heades you can buy are either:

1. good, but out of production
2. cheap, in production, but POS
3. decent, in production, expensive as *****.

at least my chassis/suspension mods were easier than the motor swap. as soon as efi is up, ths car will be tearing it up

I had a near duplicate to your car. Same color - bright blue on black with blue vinyl interior. Mine was a 1975 Mach 1 with the 2.8L V6, 4-speed manual, 3.55 gears. I bought it used in 1982 and it was my very first car. Modded the heck out of it and knocked 4 full seconds of its 1/4 mile ET's vs stock. My girlfriend at the time always knocked my car for not being as cool as her dad's 1977 Cobra II that had the factory 5.0L (302) V8 and automatic. His was white with red stripes & interior. I owned my II for 6 years and really have fond memories of it, even though I've had many, much faster cars since.

what mods and how fast did you end up getting it to go? mine was originally a 2.8L 4 speed, only with 3.00 gears

great little car...a 302 fits very easily in that thing. Correct engine mounts and correct front springs and you are in business
