right here, tryin to bust a scammer from africa right now. donkey doughnuts send me fake money
NO ONE messes with Arin and gets away with it..... unless they happen to be part of the administration of TMS
i swear scott, ill get you someday
Arin,
Not much I can say except congratulations, I wish I had the chance to get a car like that when I was 16.
Let me give you some advice from someone who started and failed at a project car.
First off, start slow... don't get yourself knee deep in a project and not be able to finish.
Learn how to do things on the car yourself, you'll appreciate the work more and save a ton of cash. You seem to be interested in engineering, so this will help you learn a lot. (It helped me a LOT. I learned more in my garage than in University)
The first money you should spend should be on a good set of tools. Craftsman tools are always on sale and excellent quality. Get yourself a nice tool chest as well.
Look for an authentic Mustang II shop manual on ebay. Those chilton's manuals are OK, but they don't come close to the factory manuals.
Try and work out any bugs on the car yourself, those are great learning experiences. Upgrade the brakes when they wear out. In the meantime do some reasearch and try and collect all the parts when those parts go.
Don't bother trying to do bodywork yourself in your garage. You will make a huge mess and your parents will hate you. Minor stuff here or there, yeah, but don't try to sand off all the paint in your neighbourhood. I would personally save up as much as I could if I were you and get a pro to do the paint, save it for the last step.
As for engine, I will go out on a limb and suggest you try something where you will learn A LOT. Do a 5.0L conversion. Find a donor engine & tranny from a fox body stang and drop that in. You'll learn so much about electrical issues and fabrication that you'll be a pro if you want to do engineering.
Again, congrats, and remember take your time. Nothing worse than not finishing a project and having your tail stuck between your legs.

thanks steve!
dont worry, im going sometime this week to get a set of craftsmen tools, and trust me, ambitious as i am, theres not a chance in heck that i will try and paint this thing lol
as far as the motor goes, i was planning on a 351W orignially, but i have since decided to build a "clevor" cleveland heads on a windosr blcok. i've done a lot of reseach and i think i know what im doing lol. basically the same setup as the boss 302, only im doing it to a 351 and im using the 2V aussie heads and dual plane boss intake, rather than the high revving 4v aussie heads and single plan boss intake.
but the "clevor" wont be for a while. right now i just wanna concentrate on new brakes, tools, and the 351 Windsor (which will eventually BE clevor)
and yeah i REALLY wanna go into engineering, preferably working for say ford, or dodge or even :gasp: GM (they need me
lol, plus as long as its american, im happy)
thanks alot for the advice man, i appreciate it (now do you have any advice on convincing parents to pay for gas? lol, im doomed in that department)

Hey Arin I had a 351 Cleveland Rocks in my 1969 Ford Supervan mano that baby hummed You will love it a very great motor and ease to work on !
BTW tell Vishal Nat liked a chicken once too 2002 Dysney LAnd

Any questions about going into engineering, feel free to ask.
That is a pretty wild engine setup you have going, but it could be very trick. Think about building a MegaSquirt fuel injection system as a project. That would be wild

a what?
not exactly engineering, but what trans would you use with for this engine? a toploader or a T-5?
the only thing i absolutely will NOT do is go auto, cuz after driving my fourspeed i dont think i will ever go back
thanks alot! if i ever have any engineering Q's ill be sure to as you

MegaSquirt is a multi-point fuel injection kit that you can build yourself. MegaSquirt
As for transmission, a toploader will fit, I am not sure if a T-5 will fit, it might take some fabrication (moving the crossmember back, "expanding" the transmission tunnel).
Your best bet is to find II owners who have done mods you plan to do and copy them and even improve on the ideas.
