Glad it was caught! My Ex's identity was stolen when we were still married and it was a mess trying to straighten all of that up. We finally had to pay a lawyer to fix it for her.

Only thing I've seen the chip do is make it take much longer to check out. If there's several people in line you have to stand there forever while the machine waits for the chip to read and go through.

With a credit card you're not actually out anything and can just get the charges voided.
Plus, my memory is getting so bad I would probably forget my PIN #.

I go to Barrett-Jackson every year since I live here. Scottsdale is Barrett-Jackson's home base. So the Scottsdale show is their largest. They even have a showroom in Scottsdale where you can always buy their cars. Plenty to do here in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Of course this time of year all the tourists are in town. Usually nice weather this time of year (but seeing some rain this January). A lot of resorts, golf, car shows. We have a metro area of about five million here so typical things you might see in a large metro area. We have all our professional sports teams and in the springtime we have the Cactus League baseball spring training going on with many of the major league teams here. Scottsdale has many upscale restaurants and bars. I recommend doing a web search and I'm sure you will find what you may be looking for. If you are into nature, the desert around the Phoenix area has many beautiful areas and we also have within a two hour drive north of town Oak Creek Canyon (Sedona) and the forested mountains around the town of Flagstaff at 7000 feet. Near Flagstaff is the Snow Bowl ski area at over 12,000 feet. You can go sking at Flagstaff and come back to Phoenix and have a cookout in the same day. I hope this answers your question about the Phoenix area and if you come out have a good time.

It's frustrating, that's for sure! Somebody got my husbands SS# and was applying for credit cards and checking accounts in his name. Luckily he has My ID Care and gets notifications when accounts are attempting to be opened. We had to go as far as putting a fraud alert on him. A bit frustrating if you actually need to apply for credit yourself, but worth the extra time and effort to keep your personal info safe.

Been down there a few times. At least they have very nice roads wide dry roads. But if you think those AZ drivers are bad you need to go to Salt Lake. Those are the worst drivers. Those **** drivers, especially in their BMWs (Big Mormon Wagons) are hell on wheels. And that is especially with the snow on the roads.

You guys need to look out and keep track of your cards. They're sneaky. Been looking in to how it happened. It started out as a couple dollar charge on iTunes (I don't even know how that works, never used iTunes). If it goes through they move up to more money. Next one was $35 on iTunes, then $300 on iTunes, they wait to see if anyone notices, then $2000 for cell phones, then they keep moving up to more money. They'll keep going until they max it out if they can. Luckily my C card company said WTF at 50K (which isn't good, how the **** did they let it go that far?) and shut it down. Hell, my limit on that particular card is over 5 times that, it took you that long to figure out something wasn't right when I don't charge much and pay it all off every month if I do?

Hope you have an easy recovery......I've heard some stories of some not so speedy recoveries! Oh, and don't forget to go back for your followup. I know a guy that didn't and then his wife got pregnant again
