I really love my car! I can cruise nice and easy getting pretty good mileage, blast the a/c to stay comfy, get errands done, etc. - and look good doin' it!
Then I can instantly morph into a racer and bust up a two lane twisty. Been wanting to arrange my trips to see the docs in the valley so I can drive home up old HWY 66 (where the Siskiyou's meet the Cascades and where the old Applegate Trail was. see map & link). You're too busy to take any pics and really no turn offs, so the few pics I have are when you're up on top of the pass.
A little out of the way and haven't driven it in 10+ years. It's a twisty uneven s.o.b. and going down it isn't as fun cause its just braking all the way. But it is a left-right snake with uneven pavement, about 6" of shoulder, not enough guard rails, and the steep drop off was giving me vertigo. lol Climbs about 3000' in about 15 miles. The curves are so tight that its a series of snakes with hardly any straights in between. Several sunken grades that have been patched so there's plenty of bumps where paving meets.
I was following a motorcycle with a big fat tire about 5 car lengths behind so I wasn't crowding him. But stayed even all the way up. Mostly all in 2nd gear in the 4k - 6k range so I was getting the full effect of Bullitt's tone matching the GT40 movie dub. Only shifted into 3rd a few times. It was awesome!
The motorcycle guy must have been thinking "that's a Mustang. How can a SRA be handling so well on this rough road??" lol
Just fine thank you!
If you're computer/device works like mine, you can click the pic of the map and a pop-up window opens. Then click the pic again and you get the full size view. I'm up at Tub Springs here after just climbing up from Ashland, but the panorama pic on the thread link is at Sportsman Park.
