She passed the eye exam, barely. Even with her contacts in.

That took 4 hours.

Off to lunch.

Now we go back at 2:00 for her driving test at 3:00. I'm nervous. I don't want to go through this again. Such hell.
That process is crazy. Are they required to go to driving school? Here they are required to go to driving school, which was over $300. When they get their learners permit, they get a book to log all of the hours in. When it's time to take the test, you have to call an automated system to set an appointment. Granted it took about a month for the next available appointment but it alleviates spending the entire day there. Good luck with the driving test!

She did online course with us doing the driving instruction. We logged the hours in the car.

Because of budget cutbacks which I'm all for spending less but I still like to ***** about the wait. They have closed many smaller offices. So more people go to fewer offices making them more busy.

Our local office won't allow you to schedule an appointment until she was actually 16. So we would have scheduled this morning for a test about 3-4 weeks from now.

This larger regional office allowed us to schedule appointment on her birthday weeks ago. So we did. So you have to add a 90 minute drive both ways to everything else. But my wife really wants Regan roger her license because she is so sick of driving her to work and dance practice. She put more miles on the Navigator the past 5 months than she did all last year in the Expedition.

Now I feel old....we didn't have any of that. Heck, I see a Historic tag in MD on an '87 Mustang and that makes me feel really old...

When I went for my test, I was the first person in the DMV that morning, still took 2 hours.

The thing that pissed me off was that during the test, the only points I got off was from the instructor saying I was too close to the curb while parallel parking. I wasn't touching the curb, so how can I be too close?

The laws here are crazy now. Not like they used to be. I took drivers Ed through my high school and went on my 16th birthday. Now you can't even get your learners until you are 15 and 9 months, and you have to have it for 9 months (I think or maybe 6) and have 60 driving hours logged in the book. No texting or talking on a cell while on the provisional until you are 18. They aren't allowed to have riders other than family members in the car for the first 5 months. And can't be on the roads between midnight and 5am. They may have gotten stricter since I've been through it with my kids.

When me and Diana went to DQ there was a sign that said Texas wieners and she wanted to take a picture of it but it didn't say California wieners so she didn't. I told her that you would prefer Texas wieners since apparently everything is bigger in Texas you would enjoy a big wiener

Reminds me of the rancher in Montana. Let his license expire so he had to start over including a driving test. The Officer asks him to make a few manuevers in traffic which he does fine. Then he asks him to parallel park which he does fine.
So as the rancher pulls out from the curb and is heading thru town the officer asks if the rancher can make a U-turn. The rancher replies...

"Nope, but I can sure make her eyes roll in the back of her head."
