Never wanted to be a mechanic and I do enjoy working on the car, to a point. I'll do a lot of my own maintenance, but know my limits too. Always try to keep a smart friend around to keep me from scewing stuff up too bad, lol.

Funny thing is, my dad taught me all kinds of stuff, but never worked with me on engines. He answered a few questions but I'm self taught. Neighbor's chain saw was my first (needle bearing pick up sticks!! lol), then my Honda Mini50's up to Suzuki 2 stroke dirt bikes, then on to rebuild my crap Olds 442 that blew up in 6 mos., my 2 Land Cruisers, F150, and my top of the line was learning to be a DOHC 4v mechanic on my J-H/Lotus with 4 Weber throats (Unisyn to synchronze carbs - leftover from my 3 cyl/3 Mikuni's on Suzuki 380) and (manually) adjustable cam sprockets for valve timing/overlap. Had a friend help on my first top loader trans but I was doin it myself the next time (ugh - Chrysler UK trans). I've been wanting to dig up 35mm pics on the valve job and scan some in. Soon.
I'm not afraid to dive in and figure it out, reassemble in reverse order (label stuff if necessary) but like a manual if I can.

That would have been cool.

I started wrenching when I started college to pay the bills. Quit college and stayed wrenching for another 10 or so years. Still get technical calls all the time and I've been out the biz for 5 years from techs at my old dealerships. Lol. None of my good friends are into hot rodding so at least I'm safe there.

I was thinking the same thing, already asked the AM guys on here about it before the video was posted. Just picked up an iPad, but think that might be too bulky to use for something like this, especially if I have the camera mounted too!
