Correct.

In the South, especially the Southeast, coke is a generic term. For example, you pull up at the store with a couple of buddies and get out of the truck...

"Y'all want a coke?"

"Yea" (both)

"What kind?"

"Get me a Dr.Pepper"

"Get me a Sprite"

"Ahhrite"

Of course my pappy calls it a "sody water" and my ma calls it a "soda water"

Seriously. That's what my dad calls it. Of course when he was a kid he had a pet skunk and bathed in a wash tub and enjoyed a good squirrel stew. No lie!

I never cared for it, but I remember when I was a kid seeing people put peanuts in coke (what kind? Coke. ) all the time. Haven't seen anyone do it in a long time though.

Funny, my grandparents used to get those when I stayed with them back years ago. They bought them from a little mom and pop grocery store in the wooden crates (later replaced by plastic). Me and my grandad would sit at their house (on the river where i live now btw) adn drink a coke with peanuts in it. Im acctually looking for some now to buy locally, most likely gonna have to go to online store to get them, but want to do that again with him soon since his health has been declining in the past few years.

I call it mountain dew.... I've lived south of the mason dixon for almost my whole life, but am just starting to seem southern now... Kinda. All my northern family claims to hear a southern accent, but I never hear it except on a couple words... Hmm wonder what that makes me, must be some kind of hybrid

Man those times are precious in one's book of life. I must run those reels a little bit everyday.
Hope he's doing well.

Lucky you Scott.

The only thing my grandpa ever did was teach me what a picaninny was.

He was a step grandpa though. And a real jerk.

You used to be able to get them at Sam's club, but that's been a couple of years ago when someone told me they had them. I've got a 6 pack of them

They probably wouldn't have much fizz though since I bought them in the 90's.

And I don't even like football. Just something I've held onto since I was young for some reason.
