I went to this GM sponsered event today called Main Street in Motion. They were set up here at the Gillette Stadium parking lots. You get to go in and test drive all sorts of GM cars and a few from others.

The test drives were on a short course, less than 2 minutes, but you got to drive whatever you wanted. You did have to take out certain cars first before taking out a Corvette, Camaro, and Volt.

I took out a black Corvette GS which just felt so comfortable to sit in a drive. With the performance cars you have to ride with one of the people from the event, but the guys I had were great. We zig zag around to the starting point and stop at a straight stretch of the course. Then i'm told to "hit it". I floored it and I hit 40mph in no time, but needed to break since I had to turn. I went through the rest of the course and was impressed. In the short time I was in it I wanted more.

Then I took out a Camaro SS. There is NO headroom in that thing. I had the seat all the way down, and if I hit a bump I would have hit my head. Other than that is was nice to drive but there is no way I could own one, even if I wanted to. I then went for the RS which is the V6. Same deal, but a lot faster than I was expecting. I was never a fan of that dash, but it didn't seem too bad in person.

Both the Corvettes and Camaros (not the V6) had heads up displays. That was cool.

They also had at least 5 Volts there, all with manufacturers plates. That was a lot better than I expected as well. I think the electronics on it would be a nightmare to fix if it went bad and if you're not computer literate, it's not a car for you. I wanted to start it but it was already running! Nice and quiet.

Not much for Ford there, but there was a Taurus there and a new Explorer. The Explorer was a lot bigger than expected and I just wasn't a fan right away. It also had the My Touch dash but no time to fiddle with it.

My favorite out of all I got to drive besides a Corvette was the GMC Acadia Denali. I got in that and it fit me perfect. Fun to drive and I felt like I had be driving it all year.

There are more of these events happening around the country this year. There are no sales people there, just people to answer your questions about each vehicle.

Check one out!!

Coming here in october I see. Do you have to sign up ahead of time? I'd still love to test drive a 5.0 but I doubt they'd let me without my dad, if at all.

By chance, was anyone watching the Nationwide race at Nashville that's on now, when the preacher gave the invocation? It was awesome!!! He was hilarious, he said thank you God for the Toyotas and Dodges and Fords, but most of all for Roush and Yates pairing up. Then went on to thank him for his smokin' hot wife and his two kids, etc. He stole the show, people were cracking up on pit road, and the crowd was cheering. God I hope it shows up on Youtube soon.

No Mustangs at the event here. I wanted a 5.0 too. They could have some at another though. Don't know. The majority of it is GM. You just have to be 18 to drive.

No sign up is necessary but I did when I got an invitation. It's just a formality and so they can see how many people are going to show up. At least if you sign up, they will send you reminders that it's coming up soon.

Ok, I singed up just for the heck of it. No idea what I'll be doing come october, but what the heck? Don't expect to see a 5.0 there, but I would like to fine one at a dealer...

No obligation by signing up. They don't even ask for that info during registration. They just scanned my license and I had to answer a short questionairre and away I went... Until the sky opened up and they kicked us out while it rained with thunder and lots of lightning!
