+2! It'd be cool if it matched your stang.

OK just got in from working all day on a full restoration of the cart. Evidently I bought a cart that spent the past two years at the bottom of the ocean. I guess you get what you pay for, and I paid for some rust. I started by completely removing everything. Then I got the grinder out and grinded the hell out of anything remotely resembling a rust spot. Then I hit it with phosphoric acid to neutralize the rust, I repeated this again to make sure I got all of it and then cleaned and prepped the surfaces for primer. I then primed with two coats of rust inhibiting primer and now I am in the middle of applying the black primer so that my black paint will look deeper and cover better. I am only working on frame right now. I have decided to paint it like the car, gloss black with the flat black le mans stripes. The seats are already tan which match my interior.
I am going to dip into the supercharger fund to buy some cool stuff for the cart. I am going to get some new wheels. I might be able to paint the centers to match my DD Bullitts. I am also going to use my grille pony on the front of the cowl and since I'm about to remove my trunk emblem I'll figure out a way to use it on the rear.

OK here is the cart as it sits right now. The rust was mainly under the battery tray where the batteries had boiled over and the sulfuric acid really did a number on the steel. Everything is good now and I will keep an eye on it so this doesn't occur again. I am also going to neutralize the exterior of the batteries with a water/baking soda mixture and clean them up. The orange is the rust inhibiting primer and the black is spray can primer, I ran out after one can. You can see the cowl and the body in each background, I'll start them tomorrow.
19 mph seems fast when you're riding in a cart with a guy thats had about 8 or 9 beers in the past hour and the fairway is bumpy as hell.
I've got to tell you, I drive a golf cart like I drive my Stang. Like I stole it.

Here's the closest match I could find on the wheels. They are a 6 spoke, but they don't make a lot of choices in cart wheels. Especially aluminum.
I'm also gonna get some diamond plate accessories including pedal covers.

Morning MCTC.
Glenn, If it comes in a regular paint can I'll do it. I need to find it. I think it's too much trouble and too expensive to take to the local rhino lining guy and have him do it. He hoses me everytime I get a new truck and need a bedliner. That stuff makes a very nice thick coating though. Surely they have a poor man's version available in a can. I wonder if I'd find it at an auto parts store, Lowes/Home Depot, or a paint store?
The Mustang is getting sad. It's sitting in the regular garage and the truck is outside now. I'm trying to get this thing done so the Mustang can have its home back.
Also there is a whole world out there for golf cart mods just like there is for Mustangs. I found a forum last night where a guy has a cart that'll do 49mph 72v AC, or they have high torque carts that'll pull wheelies and can even flip over backwards. There was a picture of a guy with a 3' wheelie. Evidently some people use these things to drive around their master planned or retirement communities instead of cars.

You should be able to get some bedliner stuff at like NAPA or equivalent. My friend works at Napa and he tells me that they have it there.. He's going to use it on the floor of his galaxie
Oh and Tom...
I have no idea what you're talking about

Looks good Gary. Take some pics of it next to the mustang when it's done.

I finally dynamatted my trunk today. It was a lot of work, but I think it was worth it. The bass sounds a lot cleaner, but now my spoiler is rattling even worse than before. But if I place my hand on it, 95% of the rattling goes away. I think I'll have to try to take it off, and mess with it. Now to do the doors.
