Tint percentages?

Um... Ok?
My philosophy is if I'm gettin' tint, then I want darkest legal on any window, then than all the way 'round.
So if that'd be 50%, guess what?
But I don't think that's legal. 35% sounds legal, so yes, that is good thinking!

In Georgia, 35% is the darkest legal tint, and that is what I went with. I considered 50%, but the shop told me it would be a waste of time and not look darkened by much. My wife liked the 35% tint on the Mustang so much she had her Miata done.

Michigan is riduculous, in that the rears can be ANY darkness, but the fronts can have NO tint except for a 4" strip at the top. Of course that looks just awful.
When I get mine done I'm going to do 45% all the way around. Looks close enough to stock to not be bothered by the cops (for the most part), but still looks decent and offers the same heat & UV protection as darker tints.

Changed direction. Going with 5% back 3, 35% sides, 70% front. Lessen likelihood of being pulled over. California has ridiculous laws on side and front tint but around here (NorCal), it's ridiculously hot (e.g., forecast for coming 7 days is 102+) so probably at least 30% of cars have tint @ 35% + so ... Hopefully I won't get nabbed for it.

Tint percentage only determines how much visible light can pass through. Heat and UV ratings are very similar between the different darknesses. You'll find that the difference between the lightest and darkest tints are usually no more then 10-15%, and they all limit UV rays equally.
