I've ordered a different shifter **** for my '16 Mustang GT, and I've watched the video on how to simply unscrew the stock shifter **** and screw the new one on. The problem I'm have is...I can't get the stock **** to break loose!! Obviously it takes more than just a strong grip and gritting your teeth (I've even tried adding a grunt or two). I'm not too concerned about damaging the stock shifter ****; so whatever it takes to get it off without bending something expensive. Any recommendations??

Strap wrench. It may also be loctited on, if so some heat helps if it won't damage anything.

When I removed mine I wrapped it in several layers of duct tape and then used a very large pipe wrench....Ford must have had a quota on how much lock tite they were supposed to use on the line the day my car was built !!!!

I'm afraid he'd twist the car in half.

I got the shifter **** off with a few wraps of duct tape and a large set of vice grips. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

Home Depot has a strap wrench with a rubber strap for under $ 10.
