Battery light on

I had flashedflashed tune and saw a battery light come on. Car started for like half a second and died. Replaced negative terminal since it was corroded and got a brand new battery. The battery light was still on, I checked the voltage on startup and went as low as 9v, hopefully they just gave me a fault battery.
