P0300 ... 2021 HPP 19,200 miles
Cruising around in rush hour this afternoon ... at some point
near home (two hours round trip) I noted the check
engine light.
Code is P0300
That seems to be the only one - looked at with FIXD, is
there an on-board way to display what it thinks is the issue?
I did not notice anything out of order. Did some driving
with a/c on, some with windows down ... no highway
(for got the toll pass thing ...).
Smells ok
No drips under car
No spots on the driveway
Under hood looks new.
Bought it from CarMax yesterday.
Wah.
Comments appreciated
(reading/searching if elusive Sync 3 will help with info)
Thanks!

was the best day, it is the worst day
It would be nice if the issue was something harmless, and simple to
address ...
... meaning that I do NOT need to worry about the Pony's
health with this code present for a few days.
Good/safe/legal to drive? (commute scheduled tomorrow is
144 mi round trip minimum, coffee, rest stops etc. vary).
There are TWO separate and distinct 2.3 ecoboost engines.
Does the TSB ... affect/apply to BOTH version? (regular/HPP)
Question ...
How can I tell if the TSB has been addressed already without
having to go to the dealer (appintment, have it looked at,
some diag. fee??)
Another question ...
Can the Sync/radio read PCM software versions maybe? If it
is already applied?
If the TSB fix is already applied, then prepare for the
worst! (Multiple iterations of visit CarMax service,
maybe code update, more diagnostics, some adjustments,
then repeat).
We planned to put on PremiumCare with a 8 year /125,000 mile,
but to do this extended warranty coverage, we would of course need
to *FULLY* address this issue first to qualify.
The autocheck from CarMax Dulles VA, Ford in Fairfax VA lists these
service events:
https://www.carmax.com/car/25066325/vehicle-history
11/15/2021 21 miles ...
- title issued
09/08/2022 9,810 miles / 10 months after in service
- vehicle inspected (Virginia state is yearly)
- suspension serviced
- multiple point vehicle inspection,
- tires or wheels service performed
11/29/2022 12,067 miles 2,257 miles / 3 months after prev. service
- multiple point vehicle inspection,
- tires or wheels service performed
12/19/2022 12,563 miles 496 miles / 3 weeks after prev. service
-multiple point vehicle inspection
5/26/2023 16,582 miles 4,019 mi / 5 months after prev. visit
- multiple point vehicle inspection
This record might suggest an issue, with such short intervals and
vague services (Red flags? My bad ... )
Gotta do something ... (Is there personal negligence if service is
not immediate? Park it, vs drive to work?).
Option - Take it to the local CarMax shop where I bought
it for service in the morning:
It is new enough (89 days of coverage left!).
Go wait wait wait in the AM ..
Will/would the have this PCM programming capability if it
is the update issue? (if update is not already installed)
It was too late to make appointment for tomorrow. The place
is hopping. Vacation balance is low. Gotta wait.
Option - traditional Ford Service -
Take it to the Fairfax VA Ford dealer, and wait -
I'm thinking there would be some sort of diagnostic fee if it
is not the TSB.
The Fairfax VA dealer is not so close, and only has
available appointments starting Monday 10/23, so "wait"
is probably un-realistic.
Take it to the most local Ford dealer and wait - save
some time (Leesburg VA).
Option - CarMax can probably come get it to fix it.

For the VIN shows there is no current warranty. (?) But, should be
inside the 3/36 by a lot.
It was the best day, it is the worst day ... is now less than
awesome. I very much appreciate thoughts/input ... re-loading up
the minivan for driving duty ...

They Check Your Vin!, And Advise!
It Should Be Covered By By 3/36.
A Rental Should Be Provided I Would Assume. If Car is to Be Kept. Unsure But Why Not Ask???
You Can Ask if Ok to Drive Till Appointment.
I Do Not Believe the Update was Done Already.
Breathe and Make The Call!
You Can Dump in Carmaxx's Lap And They Will Likely Take To Dealer Anyway.
Simply Can't Do Anything Until You Call.
If You Have FORDPASS Enabled Your DTC Codes Are Transmitted to Ford via Vehicle Health Report.
Might Discuss With Dealership at This Time.
Now Hopefully You Will Get the Right Advisor at the Dealership! If You Know One You Trust Try & Contact Them!
That's My Best Information Being 5 years Removed From The Dealership. Hope it Helps!
A Ecm Reflash May or May Not Require Both Keyfobs Present! BE ADVISED!

Out to the (my preferred Ford ..) dealer. Best option
was to go to the Ford place (vs CarMax).
Got us in but of course, wait without appointment.
2.5 hours later - PCM reprogram per the TSB 22-2185 !!
Which is ok - car came up under warranty.
No trouble on the 15 mile drive back ... (skipped the go to
work part).
Appreciate the feedback!
... on the downside ... was probably garage kept, brakes,
rotors, calipers (and more) perfect, but now first night in
the rain maybe.
Is awesome once again
