I have boss 302 coil springs and koni yellow struts up front. With the springs, the car has a rake. I find the front is too low now.

I would like to bring the front up 1/2 inch, but I can't find anything for the S197. I can find spacers for previous generations.

any suggestions are appreciated. Not looking to drop the rear to match.

 

A better option may be lowering the back. Springs for the S197 are not expensive. I put a set of Steeda Sport springs all the way around for around $200 on sale.

Did you put the Boss springs all around, or only in the front? Seems strange that they would drop the front, but not the back. How much did the front drop? If you only did the front, why?

The Steeda sport springs that EF1 mentioned drop the front about 1" and the rear 1.25" (from original stock height). The spring rates are a bit higher than stock, I don't know the numbers but would guess they are similar to the Boss springs, maybe a little stiffer. I have these on my car and no major clearance problems on the front, except on extreme steep driveways or parking lot entrances, here in Massachusetts with our crappy roads.

 

I did them all around.

The fronts are supposed to drop 1/2 inch and the backs are supposed to drop only a couple mm.

I would like to keep the front springs with the increased spring rate to go with the Koni yellows I have.

Again, I am scrapping, so I would like to raise the front rather than lower the back.

 

I will add that I have GT500 strut mounts. No idea if that contributes to the front going so low.

 

You won't be able to do a 1/2" spacer. The studs on the top of the strut mounts aren't long enough to still leave enough for the nuts to go on if they're backed out a 1/2"

I did see where somebody made their own spacer, I think it was about 1/4" thick, and I'd love to do the same, since my front is sitting too low too.

 

I see that Steeda makes a spacer for the S550, but no love for our cars.

 

this whole thing is kinda weird, car should sit right with no spacers . . . personally I would rather go after the root cause rather than applying a band-aid, if it was my car . . . but don't understand why it is like that

 

It is not a band aid. The car was supposed to lower 1/2 inch from the new springs. I want to bring the ride height back up.

I don't know if maybe they wanted that downward rake for the Boss to help keep the front end planted at speed????

A whole new set of springs would probably cost less than a set of customer machined spacers, but take a bit longer to install.

 

Yes, the Boss has a rake to it on purpose.

New springs would lower the car, but again, I don't want the car lower. I want the higher spring rates, but not the lower ride height.

 

The '05-'10 Konis when used with the GT500 mounts on a '11-'14 car, they make the car sit lower than expected.
I heard 1/4" lower, but I think it's more than that

Jim, consider looking into Roush rear springs, iirc they have 1-inch spring kits available. Perhaps just lowering your rear suspension will level things out enough for you
